Twin Huts is a combination of a cosy 1980's Lake Tarawera Bach, and a Leisurebuilt sleepout situated on a sloping elevated section nestled onto the bush facing Lake Tarawera.
A quiet place to relax and unwind or for the more active, a place to retreat to after bike riding or tramping in the Redwood Forest. The clean clear water of Lake Tarawera provides kayaking, swimming, waterskiing and fishing. The Buried Village is close by as is the Landing Cafe and the Solitaire Lodge Restaurant.
Twin Huts Lake Tarawera bach has one bedroom equipped with a double bed and a children's camping style bunkset. A portacot is also available. There is an open plan kitchen with a tiny oven, dining and lounge area, opening onto a partially covered deck.
The bathroom contains a shower, toilet and vanity, and the laundry consists of a tub and dryer. Please note that the shower is a low pressure shower.
The deck can be shaded in the summer with a wind out canvas awning. There is a gas BBQ and outdoor furniture on the deck, which provides a panoramic view of Mount Tarawera and the lake. At sunrise and sunset there is an awesome display of colour and the mystic feeling which surrounds the mountain. Moreporks can be heard some nights. Tuis, native wood pigeons, quail, swallows and other small birds are plentiful.
The sleepout is close to the bach, accessed by a covered walkway. In the sleepout there is a queen sized bed and a set of wooden bunks. It is fully carpeted, warm and on mains power. There is a chemical toilet as used in caravans, in a separate cubicle, but there is no running water at the sleepout.
There is not cellphone coverage at this Lake Tarawera Bach, however there is a telephone for local calls. The TV reception is snowy, only receiving channels 1 & 2. There are plenty of magazines, books and jigsaw puzzles for all ages, games, cards and a video player with a collection of videos. The internet can be accessed by dial-up. Heating is by convector heaters in both buildings.
This accommodation allows parking for 2 cars, with off street parking for other guests. (No suitable parking for boats).
