Smoked Trout - Lake Tarawera Holiday Home is a comfortable older style bach located in a peaceful sloping bush-clad site across the road from Lake Tarawera. Magnificent views of the lake from this holiday home!

Smoked Trout is a comfortably furnished two level holiday home. On the upper level there is a lounge, two bedrooms, 1 with a queen bed and 1 with 2 bunks plus a trundle bed (Please note that double bedroom is accessed via the bunk room) and a bathroom. You will find the kitchen, dining, master bedroom (w/ ensuite) and a utility room on the ground level. Outside, there is a big deck with a double carport. There is also a pull-out couch in the lounge.

Please be mindful of the steps leading to the second floor as these are quite steep and could be dangerous for young children. There is ample boat parking at the top of the elevated driveway but is not suitable for a large boat.

Lake Tarawera has pristine water quality and is well known for its excellent trout fishing. Our bach is ideal for kicking back and letting life slow right down. But hey, for those wanting action, Blue Lake & Lake Okareka are nearby & perfect for all boating activity - particularly water skiing and biscuiting! Also, you could be adventurous, and go tramping or mountain biking through the redwoods.

Across the lake is the outlet, where the walkway follows what is commonly known as the disappearing stream (because it sinks underground after 3 or 4 km). Walk further down the track and you descend down a cliff face, and once at the bottom you can look back & see the disappearing stream re-appear. This cliff face has a waterfall.

The holiday home is also close to the famous buried village.

There is no cell phone coverage at the bach, and the house only gets TV Channels 1 & 2 - perfect for those really wanting to escape! Lots of books, board games, & a collection of old videos(for trips down memory lane).
