Pohutukawa House has magnificent views of Mercury Bay. It is situated right next to a reserve that boasts one of the Coromandel’s oldest Pohutukawa’s.
This luxury beach house reflects its natural bush setting, and is only a minute’s walk across the road to the beach. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The spacious living area and master bedroom flow on to the deck. The house is double glazed.
The master bedroom is on the main level with access to the covered sun deck. It has a king size bed, bedside tables, matching drawers and a large window seat facing the bush. A great place to sit and read a book. There is a double wardrobe, curtains and blinds.
The second bedroom is at the other end of the house and has two single beds, drawers, a double wardrobe, chair, mirror and wooden venetians. Both bedrooms have sisal carpeting.
The third bedroom is at the mezzanine level which has a single rollout bed, chairs, sea chest, desk and table, wooden flooring, roller blinds, and a fan. It has an en-suite, consisting of a shower, toilet, vanity, heated towel rails. The mezzanine is open to the living area below. The very top windows are opened electrically. The owners use this area as a studio and overflow for guests.
The living area has wonderful sea and bush views, it consists of 2 + 3 seater couches plus two easy chairs, a coffee table, a bookcase, an entertainment unit housing a 32inch TV, CD, DVD, a large bound sisal mat on wooden flooring and roman blinds. A transfer heat system operates from the mezzanine area, and built in thermostatically controlled electric heaters give additional heat when required in the living and dining areas. Colorful original artwork is through out the house. The dining area has a large wooden table that seats up to eight people. It has wonderful sea views.
The modern open kitchen has stainless steel benches, stainless electric hobs, oven, range-hood and fridge/freezer, microwave, an integrated single dish drawer, electric jug, coffee plunger, toaster, sandwich maker, kitchen whiz and all the usual pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and glassware. Also it has a pantry cupboard with large drawers below, a working island space that hold vegetables in its baskets on one side and table mats etc on the other. The kitchen has wonderful sea views and overlooks the dining area. One can also keep an eye on the living area and the deck from the kitchen. The kitchen has a rain sensitive electric skylight. The kitchen, bathroom and toilet all have underfloor heated tiles.
In the bathroom, one can enjoy a bath looking out towards the huge pohutukawa tree. Dimmers on the bathroom lights can set the mood of an evening bath. It’s a favorite spot in the house. The bathroom also has a shower, vanity and heated towel rails.
The laundry consists of a double cupboard off the kitchen, which stores an automatic washing machine, broom, mop, buckets and cleaners.
There is a wooden table and 6 deck chairs on the deck. Also an umbrella for when shade is needed. The gas barbecue is situated off the kitchen in a small outdoor area near the kitchen garden growing many herbs.
There is no landline telephone available.
There are enough screens throughout the house to control any flies or mosquitoes.
The property has a double carport, which is to be shared with the flat below.
This house is not suitable for young children. Being on a steep section with no fencing because the driveway runs through the reserve.
A one bedroom self contained flat is downstairs which is listed separately 'Little Pohutukawa Bach'. Combined, the house and flat has a total of 4 bedrooms, three bathrooms and sleeps 6 people upstairs and can sleep up to a further 4 downstairs. You would need to book each property separately.

Special Conditions
One bed in the loft is a rollaway single bed. No pets are permitted.No smoking is permitted inside or outside the house. We wish to ensure the safety of the bush reserve.
