“Let people know that the fire alarm is situated close to the yurt, this caused a lot of unnecessary panic when it went at 3am.”

Share the alarm code in introductory email, we arrived to find that the alarm was already going, rang the provided number who were able to find the code for us. When I expressed reluctance to enter the premise/concern over the alarm being set off before our arrival I was told that it should all be fine and that I would receive a phone call back to confirm this after contact was made with the owner. I am still waiting for that call. Is a comfortable space that met our needs.

“A really unique experience and overall a comfortable stay.”

However, the listing made no mention that basic amenities such as body wash/shampoo/conditioner was not provided which we only discovered on arrival. Bachcare property manager contact details were out of date and after calling the 0800 number said they couldn’t help out but would respond the following day. We got no response so had to follow up. They finally reached the property manager who said the property never had basic amenities like body wash which we found very odd. Suggest they reconsider not supply something that is pretty standard at most properties. If this had been explained more clearly in the listing, we would have come prepared no problem. Final feedback is that bachcare was unresponsive and required multiple follow ups to respond and kept stating it wasn’t their responsibility. They just “serviced” the property. We were a large group and staying for 4 nights and they just said, not our problem and didn’t attempt to help.

“It was fun to stay in a yurt!”

It was definitely a unique experience, the yurt was very cosy, and there's something about the circular shape that is somehow energising. I'm not generally very woowoo, but I definitely felt it. :) We had everything we needed (except wifi). It was convenient to everything in Ohakune, and very private. It would be even better if it was upgraded to have wifi and maybe had more comfortable beds.

“We had a great stay and the previous reviews didn’t quite do it justice, we were surprised how good the Mangawhero yurt was.”

The yurt is such a good family friendly layout. The open kitchen and lounge area made it easy to watch our young kids crawl around without worrying about stairs or a fireplace hazard. The heat pump worked really well, we never felt cold. The rooms had their own little heaters too which were great for keeping the young kids warm through the night. All beds were comfy. Both bathrooms were very clean and tidy. The entrance room was so good for drying and hanging our wet snow gear , they were easily dry by the next day for us to use. The Yurt managers were great and easy to communicate with. Will definitely be looking to book again next year when we return. Ngā mihi
