Situated on a private clifftop with uninterrupted sea views overlooking Pigeon Bay in the stunning Banks Peninsula, is Edward and Penny Aitken’s eco-friendly retreat – the proud winner of the Eco-Friendly Bach Of The Year 2017. Introducing The Point to Bachcare’s Luxury Collection!
This remarkable location has been in the Aitken family for generations, upon which they have created an off-the-grid, luxurious masterpiece. The perfect spot for those wanting to relax in total privacy, and escape the stresses of everyday life. Simplicity is key in this home, designed to be enjoyed over a single spread-out level, with the intention to allow guests to fully absorb their spectacular surrounds.
The living room is one of the many highlights bringing a soul and warmth to the house, contributed to by the beautiful earth wall running along the entire length of the home. You’ll find yourself instantly relax as you take in the views; watching the seagulls catching the updraft from the cliff.
One area of the home that Penny and Edward are particularly fond of is the outdoor fire place. They recommend setting yourself up in front of the warm glow of the open fire, whilst listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks below (of course this is also an excellent spot to enjoy a glass of wine!). The property also boasts a private swimming cove, promising an unforgettably unique experience.
Extensive thought has gone into the homes design and creation by Warren and Mahoney architects. Particular attention has been paid to the angles used, in order to maximise sunlight in winter, keep the heat out in summer, and fully utilise the solar panels running along the roof.
When not al fresco dining, cosying up by the fireplace, or swimming at the bay, venture into the gorgeous town of Akaroa, just a 20 minute drive away. This is a great area to explore cafes, boutique shops, visit the world famous in Akaroa ‘The Giant’s House’, or head out on a harbour cruise and spot some dolphins!
