The road to restoration for this beautiful church sitting pretty in Old Cromwell hasn’t come without its challenges. Years of careful and seriously skilful craftsmanship have been involved in creating the masterpiece that is The Stone Temple today. After having completed expansive foundational work, no expense has been spared to ensure the interior fit-out is breathtaking. The open plan living space holds an enormous dining area and two separate living areas, dissected by a magnificent fireplace.
The master bedroom is elevated above the main living area, creating a stunning mezzanine space. Enjoy waking up with the morning sunlight streaming through the beautiful stained-glass window. A secondary bedroom with two single beds is tastefully tucked away in a unique private loft-style space. For winter stays enjoy the cosy underfloor heating and large fireplace – perfect for returning to after a day on the slopes! The owners have sourced much of their furniture from Vietnam, adding to the splendour of the interior and complementing the breath-taking architecture splendidly.
The tiler faced a tough challenge when it came to the steepled window of the master bathroom, the quality and finish of the craftsmanship required to complete this project is amazing. You’ll find that the previous Sunday School is fitted with a state of the art kitchen, finished with recycled rimu floor joists that have been reused in the skirting and the kitchen joinery.
Positioned right on Lake Dunstan you’re perfectly situated to embark on picture-perfect walks and cycle trails. Be sure to step outside and look up at night – the inky night sky is adorned with an abundance of sparkling bright stars! The old town of Cromwell holds cute cafes and art boutiques, not to mention other historic landmarks. One should also check out the world-famous Central Otago vineyards, Alpine ski resorts, trout fishing, golf courses, and more all within easy reach!
