Yes Outside Only
Nestled between the stunning Waitākere Ranges and the large coastal stretch of striking black sand that is Karekare Beach, Karekare Luxury Escape is sure to provide an unforgettable stay.
Aside from the breath-taking setting and design of this luxury home, its' history is hard to beat. After the land was purchased from Sir Edmund Hilary in the early 1980's, award-winning New Zealand architect Andrew Patterson conceptualised this timeless masterpiece in tandem with music producer Nigel Horrocks.
What with its' lack of distractions, privacy and isolation, Karekare Escape has acted as the base for Crowded House and Neil Finn to record their album Together Alone. Since then, Scarlett Johansson, Radiohead, Pearl Jam and Elle Macpherson have added to the long list of public figures that have been associated with this unique Karekare property.
Every interior and exterior feature has been considered in the design of this stunning home. Here, the floor-to-ceiling ranch sliders create a light-filled and inviting space, while the unique and thoughtful artworks, decor and furnishings produce a beautiful living and entertaining area for you to enjoy.
There are three well-sized bedrooms at Karekare Luxury Escape, providing ample space for up to six guests to stay. Bedroom one offers a spacious queen bed and private ensuite, whilst bedroom two offers a double bed, and bedroom three two singles.
The well-appointed kitchen at Karekare Luxury Escape has everything you need to start your morning right, including a coffee machine to make a cosy cuppa. From here, the spacious lounge room is the perfect spot to enjoy your coffee and take in views of the picturesque Waitākere Ranges that wrap around this home. When you’re ready to kick back at the end of the day, the lounge also has a Smart TV with Freeview and Apple TV for your enjoyment.
An outdoor alfresco dining and entertaining area at Karekare Luxury Escape provides a gorgeous space to share a meal with the family, complete with a BBQ, dining table and chairs and snug outdoor lounge setting. From here, you have the chance to truly unwind and embrace the surrounding Karekare landscape.
If you can be convinced to leave this beautiful home, a number of unmissable local attractions await you. Karekare Luxury Escape offers close access to Karekare Beach, which can be reached by car or on foot in less than 5 minutes. A two-minute drive will also find you at Karekare Falls, a lush tropical waterfall that will make you second-guess whether you’re still in New Zealand. If you fancy a trip slightly further afield, a 12-minute drive will find you at the iconic Piha Beach, where you might enjoy a pie at the local bakery, an adventurous climb up famous Lion Rock, or just a relaxing stroll along the beach.

We had a great stay at the Karekare beach house and really enjoyed the relaxing location surrounded by the native trees and plants. The tui's welcomed us each morning with their birdsong.
