“This is a fantastic basic home, great for a family.”

It has a new kitchen but no washing machine but it is a beautiful basic older home. It has wonderful views that are unmatched and is very peaceful. You can walk to every thing in Akaroa within 20 mins and has great reception. We stayed for 5 days and had everything we needed as a family of five. Definitely head the driveway advice. But I’d definitely stay again.

The property

Giving a nod to the French history of the breathtaking Banks Peninsula town of Akaroa, the name of this stunning three-bedroom holiday home really says it all. Welcome to Vue de la Mer! Picture yourself sipping a glass of champagne on your wrap-around deck, as you stare out at picturesque views of the Akaroa Harbour. You’re on holiday now, and in the perfect position to catch all day sun, this home is the ideal spot to relax. Filled with sunlight right up to its vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, Vue de la Mer is furnished with style and comfort in mind. For time spent indoors, set the ideal temperature at the touch of a button thanks to heat pump technology. Nestle into the comfy couch and delve into the pages of a good book, if you can tear your eyes away from the view out the wall-to-wall sliding glass doors that is. Open up these doors and create seamless indoor-outdoor flow from the open-plan living-dining area, on to the expansive deck. When it’s time to tuck into some fresh Akaroa salmon cooked to perfection on the BBQ, prepare a feast of delicious sides in the fully equipped kitchen, and dine alfresco with the cool coastal breeze flowing through. At the end of the meal, pop the dishes in the dishwasher, catch up with the latest news on Sky TV, or turn on the Apple TV and settle in for a movie night. Or take some time to post your favourite snaps from your day in Akaroa using the complimentary WIFI. Recharge the batteries overnight in the three bedrooms here at Vue de la Mer. The master with its queen bed enjoys deck access, allowing you to wake up and get a good dose of quiet, breathtaking beauty first thing in the morning. Sip your coffee on the deck and make a plan for the day. From Vue de la Mer it’s just a 10-minute walk to the Akaroa township, where you’ll find shops, eateries, and activity providers.
