The property

Welcome to Otahuahua! The name Otahuahua means the place of collecting eggs and is also the Māori name for Children's Bay, which is just below this wonderful holiday home. Stunning and iconic Akaroa views pour in the large windows, perfectly framed to offer an unforgettable backdrop whether you're waking up, lounging out, or even while you're preparing a delicious holiday meal. An intimate spot, for those seeking a very special break. You'll be just a 10-minute walk from town, with all its cafes, shops and other attractions, and if you're up for an adventure on dry land, there is great access to local walking tracks from Otahuahua. The must-do Children's Bay Walkway starts by the beach, two minutes walk from the house. This takes you through native woodland and up along the top of the peninsula with spectacular views. This quiet retreat not only feels like a little hideaway amongst the trees, it is also one of the very few truly waterfront houses around Akaroa Harbour. Being very recently rebuilt, it has all the modern comforts you might need to make it feel like home during your stay. There's a great outdoor sundeck and BBQ for outdoor dining, a heat pump for ideal temperatures all year long, and even the must-have Nespresso machine, so don't forget to pack your pods! The birdlife in the garden and in the bay fill the air with remarkable birdsong and dawn chorus in the mornings. There will be bellbird, tui, kereru, quail (some may be brave enough to come onto the deck), morepork (calling at night), kingfisher, heron, falcon, oystercatcher, geese, and lots more! For a cool spot to get out of the summer sun, there is an old totara tree that offers lovely shade. Pour yourself a cold drink, grab your book, and feel the stress melt away. On a fine day and at high tide, there will be plenty of people out on the water at the bay. If you plan to bring your jet skis to get out on the water, this is the ideal place to set-up! There is also ample private, drive-on, flat parking on-site. If you're up for an adventure on dry land, there is great access to local walking tracks from Otahuahua, and you'll be just a 10-minute walk from town. Discover something wonderful, Otahuahua is ready and waiting.

Please note guest will need to supply their own Nespresso pods.

Please note that as there are no barriers around the cliff edge to prevent falls, all guests should take extreme caution in these areas.

As the property has unfenced access to the beach, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.

Please note that access is up a steep gravel road; if towing a boat you will need a 4WD. Once on the property, the on-site parking is level. There are two gates to be opened and closed as there may be grazing animals

Please note a bond may be charged at certain times of the year. One of our team members will contact you if this is required for your booking.
