We loved our wee cottage which we called home for a week, especially the harbour views and the history to devour on the walls and the shelves. A very special place to stay in a wonderful friendly village.

Such an amazing house. Although we were initially surprised to find it was a working harbour it gave us hours of entertainment. And seeing it all lit up at night was magical. The attention to detail in the house and the history it shows everywhere makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Loved every minute. Loved Lyttleton. Make sure you take the trip to Quail island. And the Botanic gardens and around the outside of the mountains from Littleton qto Sumner Bay. We will be back definitely.

We returned to Islay Cottage as our stay in NZ has been extended. As usual we found the cottage warm, welcoming and impeccably clean. Our home away from home. Thanks again to Vanessa and the owners for providing such a beautiful and comfortable place to stay so close to ChCh city and our new granddaughter!!

Islay cottage is a beautiful historical home in Lyttleton which has all the comforts of home. We have been staying her intermittently when we could as our daughter has had a baby and lives nearby. The owners of this extraordinary cottage have attended to every detail of the home and each room to ensure that this will be a holiday to remember. Lyttleton itself is rich in history and vibrance as is the house itself. You would need to see it for yourself as the attention to detail is the best!!

Islay cottage has been beautifully and sensitively renovated. The historical nature of the accommodation has been emphasised and we enjoyed such things as the framed segments of the rescued wallpaper, the art. and the excellent information presented. The views from the cottage have been maximised and we were almost sorry that there was so much to do in the area and we lacked sufficient time to sit and appreciate these.

We came back to stay at Islay several times while in NZ for almost 3 months. It is our preferred home away from home and location. We thank the owners for providing such a beautiful home with everything we can think of for comfort and practical needs. It is warm, clean and magnificently restored with a remarkable authenticity to the history of Lyttleton in 1851. ♥️

This is an outstanding, charming and unique holiday home. Great for families, well equipped, super warm and cosy. Awesome view overlooking the harbour. Still very close to Christchurch centre. Lovely holiday manager. We will be back.
