Maddy “Fabulous spot, handy to the beach for walks, thanks for allowing dogs to stay, ours had a great time.”
We really enjoyed sitting on the deck and listening to the bird song. Thanks, Maddy
- Maddy, February 2024Craig “Loved the house and location.”
Few steps up to it, but great view. Perfect for our small dogs as well. Deck was awesome
- Craig, February 2024Rebecca “This was a lovely holiday home thank you for sharing this space with us .”
It was a real treat to stay here we actually looked at purchasing the property next door when it was up for sale . Weâre so gutted we missed out . The KererÅ« were beautiful checking in on us . Such a treat to see so many . We woke up everyday to bird song which was amazing. And for us to be able to bring our dogs was so special we spent everyday swimming down at the wharf. The beds were comfy and the house was cosy warm . We enjoyed meals on the deck soaking up the sun . A perfect retreat from the business of life .
- Rebecca, January 2024Emily “What a fabulous bach!”
Great location and lovely clean well equipped bach. The deck and views were awesome! There were a few little things which would be good for the Managers/Owners to note/ check for the future to make it even better! There was no hot water as the external gas bottle was empty so we had to switch it over ourselves, the dishwasher had been turned off at taps under the sink which we discovered after the dishwasher wouldnât go, there was no plug for the kitchen sink, the drawers in the master bedroom were falling apart so couldnât be used and the outdoor table and chairs absolutely covered in cobwebs so had to be brushed and cleaned before we could use them. It is a fabulous wee bach and we will definitely be back!
- Emily, December 2023Peter “We had a lovely stay thank you.”
Wonderful views. I would like to agree that the steps are very steep and to hard for older people especially recipients of joint replacements .
- Peter, February 2023Deb “We had a lovely stay - itâs a beautiful location.”
Nice view and we enjoyed listening to all the birds. The bach itself was fine - our only concern were the steps up to the bach itself - we had a bit of rain and they were quite slippery- they could do with a little maintenance. But overall we had a great weekend.
- Deb, February 2023Thanks for your review Deb, we're glad to hear you enjoyed the location and views of Takamatua Treehouse. We have added a note in the special conditions about access to the property via the steep staircase to ensure guests are aware of this prior to booking and will be sure to pass on your feedback about the maintenance of these as well. We look forward to welcoming you back again! Bachcare
Anna “We loved the outside sitting area - really well appointed and idyllic amongst the bush with all the birdsong.”
We were surprised to see diarrhoea splashes around the toilet bowl on arrival, indicating the toilet hadnât been cleaned at all. We spent absolutely ages trying to make the tv work at all, even Freeview channels. Obviously Netflix and YouTube were not able to work as there is no wifi at the Bach. For the sanity of future holiday makers, I would strongly suggest you include some instructions for the tv. Also for the oven which we were not able to make work. I telephoned the 0800 Bach care number to try and sort it out but an automated message said they would get back to me, which they did not. We were frustrated to have fully loaded the dishwasher with dirty dishes and set it going only to find it still making noises like it was going in the middle of the night and the dishes still dirty. The vacuum cleaner also did not work. The laundry powder was stuck together and had been eaten by rodents. Only 1 out of 6 lightbulbs in the bathroom worked, making it very dim in there. The shower was great though. We had a good time but feel this Bach needs a bit of tlc and a little more support for appliances.
- Anna, January 2023Thank you for your feedback Anna, we're glad to hear you enjoyed the outdoor settings at Takamatua Treehouse. We're sorry to hear there were cleanliness issues with our property. This isn't the standard we expect for our guests and we will be following up with the local manager to ensure everything has been remedied. We will passed your feedback onto the owner about the maintenance issues and ensure these get addressed. Bachcare
Cherie “We had an issue with the hotwater.”
For the majority of the stay we had no hot water. This was rectified by the owner, unfortunately not the first time they tried to resolve it. I think also people need a heads up to the fact it's a bit of a steep climb up to the house. You would struggle with elderly people there and it took quite a bit to get our stuff in and out of the house. It is a lovely situation though, cool native birds everywhere, nice view and comfortable and clean.
- Cherie, January 2023Thanks for your review Cherie! We're sorry to hear you experienced issues with the hot water during your stay, but happy to hear the issue was resolved. We have since added a note to the special conditions regarding access to the property via a steep staircase to ensure guests are aware of this at the time of booking. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back again. Bachcare
Jane “Hi, we did have a great time in Takamatua however we probably won't choose this accommodation again.”
It was a bit grimey, the cutlery draw needed a good wipe out for example. The bathroom was not generous as advertised. The vanity bench was small and there wasn't that much space to put the kids through the shower easily, hang towels etc. The deck had a couple of loose boards and needed to be fixed from underneath otherwise it was a major trip hazard. The stairs up to the house are pretty dodgy, not just super steep but also pretty worn out. There was no WiFi which to enjoy the Smart TV, so it's not really a smart TV. Private it is not, the bunk room faces onto the neighbours drive way, deck, garage and main entrance. He has no privacy either. The neighbour expressed his annoyance and is "sick of dogs always coming onto his property", as there is no fencing. Obviously our dog is not the first. I would be the same if I was him to be honest. Probably needs to complain to the owners not the holiday makers though. Using someone's bach is great but I didn't expect to find so much food in the fridge/ freezer & it was pretty off-putting and there was limited space for our family. Bar fridge freezer in kitchen unusable (frozen stuff stuck in there). No dining room table or place to eat inside, so the night it rained we had to bring the outdoor table inside which basically took up the whole living room and then some. Wasn't great. Having an info book (compendium) would have been very useful esp. rubbish disposal & location of transfer stn (just before Barry's Bay). Had fun but wouldn't rush back sadly.
- Jane, November 2022Thank you for your review Jill. We're glad to hear you had a great time at Takamatua Treehouse. We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention and have passed these on to the owner and property manager to work on future improvements. Bachcare
