Within a 5 minute walk is the scenic Okiato-Russell Walkway trail, or take a 5 minute drive to Omata Estate Vineyard for an incredible dining experience!
Meanwhile historic Russell is full of charm, and just an 8 minute drive up the road, where you can try out delicious restaurants and cafes, explore shops, wander along the beach, go for a swim, and take scenic walks. There is an array of attractions you can book from a dolphin-watching cruise to the famous The Hole in the Rock, a Cape Reinga tour, a sailing tour or fishing charter, to parasailing for the more adventurous. Take a ferry to Urupukapuka Island for a fun-filled day trip, or across to Paihia to explore.

About the location
Otherwise known as Old Russell, Okiato is a small coastal town in the Bay of Island just 8km south of Russell township. Briefly the first capital of New Zealand from 1840-1841, Okiato has a special place in New Zealand history.
From here, head to the one of the many picturesque beaches nearby, go on an adventure out to the Bay of Islands, or discover an important part of New Zealand’s history at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
