“A lovely spacious home to stay for the week.”
Very well stocked with kitchen utensils etc, clean, comfortable beds etc. Plenty hot water, even for 6 of us after a day at the beach. The surrounding bush is gorgeous and you get a good view of the sunset. The location is good for the Tryphena area, and it is just 15-20 mins drive to Claris. The road is very gravelly and steep up to the house, so I would recommend a 4WD!
A couple of windows didn't have curtains in the bedrooms, so it let the light in early morning, but an eye mask did the trick for this. We also had to purchase more dish liquid as there was not enough left for us, but I suspect this isn't a regular occurrence as it seemed to be well stocked otherwise.
Overall a great stay.

The fully equipped kitchen offers everything you need to self-cater your stay, including a Stanley wood stove, and you'll find the Stonewall Store just a five-minute drive away to stock up on supplies. If you'd prefer a meal out, the Currach Irish Pub and Pa Beach Cafe are also only a short distance from this Great Barrier Island accommodation. Later, retreat to the bedrooms for a peaceful night's rest; the master bedroom even offering its own private balcony.
This Great Barrier Island accommodation is only a 14-minute drive from the Tryphena Wharf, the docking point of the Sealink Ferry to and from Auckland.
There are also plenty of other activities to get stuck into during your time on the Island. Take the available kayaks down to the water for a paddle, bring the snorkelling gear and check out the local marine life, or take the 12-minute drive to Medlands Beach for a day by the seaside.

This property has unfenced access to a large expanse of bush nearby, and there is a stream with small rock pools down a steep track from the house. It is essential that guests take personal responsibility for the safety of their group in and around these areas.
As there is a section of the deck without a barrier with a small drop on to grass, all guests should take care when using this area due to the risk of falls.

Great Barrier Island is only two hours from Auckland City by ferry, and is a popular spot with adventurists, with its spectacular rugged scenery. There is a network of over 100 kilometres of walking tracks maintained by the Department of Conservation, as well as great fishing, swimming and surfing spots.
