“The toilet seat did not fit the seat I believe this was also a complaint from a previous user of the property so it was disappointing that it has not been rectified.”
Was only provided with 2 toilet rolls for 5 days. For the amount of money you pay for the accommodation it was disappointing.

Amanda “We loved that it was all about the dogs, and even given the go ahead for them to sleep on the bed.”
Mine doesn't, but my son's does. So it was great to have doggy blankets. The beds were so huge, Immaculate and comfortable. The facilities were great. The steep drive was not an issue. My only criticism would be the the finer details, hanging cobwebs, child finger prints on TV screen, dust behind doors. It felt like it needed a deep clean. However, we would absolutely stay again and happy to recommend to doggy friends. The views are amazing over the lake. BBQ facilities meant that we could breakfast outside every morning. Very happy campers.

The challenge was that the toilet seat was far smaller than the bowl, so that was interesting. A note explaining that this would be rectified would have been reassuring. Also one toilet roll was rather inadequate...

Carolyn “Comfortable for two couples.”
Nice quiet location. Would be more practical with a washing machine. Very dog friendly. Had to clean BBQ before first use as very dirty. Grass not mowed as per picture. Advised Bachcare and mowed on day 6 of our 8 day stay. Trees along fence cut down so not as per picture. Could do with a platter for nibbles. We only received 4 bath towels, 1 hand towel and 3 tea towels; not adequate for 8 night stay. Advised Bachcare and delivered more bath towels and a hand towel. Duvet inner is too small for cover in bedroom with white cover and red blanket. About 1m short so did not cover 2nd person. Dog blanket for bed a great idea.

Far too obsessed with dogs. Yes, dogs are wonderful, but when you supply doggy shampoo and no human shampoo, when you supply multiple doggy bags but only one rubbish bag, it's a little strange. Also there were what look like cameras placed on top of the TVs in both rooms. I'm not sure why the cameras were there and if they were on or not, but that to me was a little creepy. Luckily we had nothing to hide.

Louise “The Acacia Bay Retreat provided us - a family of four plus our dog - with everything we needed and meant we didn't have to bring half of our own home with us to be able to function as a family.”
The holiday home is in a lovely spot and Acacia Bay is only a short drive from the centre of Taupo. Coming from the South Island we would not hesitate to book this place again for another holiday.

Would stay again. The property was clean, comfortable, convenient. It has everything there. I loved the large bedrooms. We could close off the outside area for the dogs. The steep driveway may not not suit everyone but it wasn’t a problem for us.

Place was comfortable and warm; an easy walk to the lakefront and drive into the CBD. Had a wee issue with lack of hot water (Day 1 and check out day), but was resolved quickly with a call to the 0800 number. Would definitely recommend :-)

Quiet location in Acacia Bay with a beautiful view! Unfortunately there was no heating for the first 24 hours of our stay and only one call-back from Bachcare the next day despite three phone calls reporting they would resolve this. Once this was addressed by the property manager it was the perfect stay.

Just a few minutes drive from Taupo Central, Acacia Bay is a great place for a holiday filled with boating, fishing and hiking. Head into town for some shopping and an array of excellent cafes, or drive to see the famous Huka Falls. Another great thing to do is to simply find a good spot and take in the view of Lake Taupo over a picnic or some fish and chips.
