“Dirty linen, pillowcases stained.”

Old furniture that is rickety like outside table. Bugs in bedroom. Odd broken cups. Stains on settee and carpets. Cigarette butts in front garden and back. General upkeep very poor. Would not recommend or stay again. Would like to be compensated as very disappointed given cost of house. Anna King

ability to leave rubbish as we left day after rubbish day was also a bonus. A lovely place to stay while we continue our annual visit to Taupo. Plenty of room for extended family or large groups. Modern cons also appreciated - wi fi but also the option to bring own linen if we wanted.

“Lovely place to stay!”

Close to the lake and the new dropzone/landing which has lots of activities for all ages. And only a 5 minute drive into town. We come for my birthday and my partner forgot the cake mixer, but by some miracle even that was provided! Overall, magical views, comfortable beds and a happy stay. Would highly recommend.

“We had a family group of 10 - 4 adults, 6 kids.”

Booking and check in process was straight forward. The property was exactly what we were looking for, had all the features for a comfortable and homely stay. The house was clean and tidy and didn't take long to warm up with a heat pump upstairs and down (fireplace was also available, although we found we didn't need it). Beds were comfortable, plenty of dishes and cutlery for mealtimes, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer were handy, and just in case it matters - the shower pressure was tops! Good location and great space for everyone, the free wifi was a big thumbs up from the teens! Shops within a short driving distance. Very pleasurable stay, wish it was longer.

“Kapuka Paradise is an amazing holiday home for my family.”

Beautifully decorated, comfortable and quiet. The dishwasher helped with each meal so that we could head to our adventures as soon as possible. The top level had a spectacular view overlooking the lake. During the nights, the view was stunning and surreal. The kids enjoyed playing with the board games available. Lake access to the reserve was super easy to find, and enjoy a stroll to the lake. Shower pressure was amazing! And the fireplace made the home feel comfortable, although air pumps were available. The electric blankets kept us warm and snug. Easy to find via google maps. Thank you, the home was perfect in every way.

A fireplace and heat pump are on hand to set the ideal temperature indoors, which will make settling in with a book and a cuppa all the more inviting. Everyone will enjoy winding down in front of the Smart TV at the end of the day. Use the complimentary WIFI to access your Netflix account and make the most of holiday-mode. A fully equipped kitchen offers everything you need to self-cater your stay here at Kapuka Paradise. Whip up a feast in the morning, dine casually at the breakfast bar, and put a plan for the day together. Then, pop the dishes in the dishwasher and head out. Enjoy the afternoon sun on the deck and lawn at this beautiful property. With plenty of seating, there’s room for everyone to share an alfresco meal and chat long into the warm summer evening, or perhaps stage a family board game challenge! When it’s time to retire to recharge the batteries for tomorrow, Kapuka Paradise has three generous-sized bedrooms with ideal bedding configurations for most groups. The master suite upstairs can only be described as a retreat, with its luxurious king-size bed plus 2 single beds, ensuite, private living area, and balcony with breathtaking views. Both showers have the luxury of their own hot water cylinders. From Kapuka Paradise it’s just a one-minute walk in either direction to the swimming only beach at Four Mile Bay. There’s also a walking trail so you can take a stroll while admiring the stunning lake views. Bring the jetski, the bikes, even your ski gear; there is a small garage available to lock it all away (not to mention there's a spare fridge available too, giving you more space for refreshments!) You can even securely park a small boat on the back lawn, and it's only a two-minute drive to the boat ramp! Taupo Central is just a short 10-minute drive away with plenty of shops and eateries, as well as activity options when you’re looking for a bit of adventure. As there is a section of the deck without a barrier with a small drop on to pavers, all guests should take care when using this area due to the risk of falls.

As there are fixed bench seats on a section of the deck, adults should closely supervise young children in this area to ensure they do not climb the deck barrier.

Please note that Bedroom 1 has one king bed and two king single beds (one is a pop up trundler).

About the location

Just an 8 minute drive around the lake from Taupo Central, Wharewaka is a great base for a relaxing or adventure-packed holiday. It's out of the hustle and bustle of the centre, but still close to many of the bucket-list activities Taupo has to offer such as going out on the lake, visiting Huka Falls or even making the trek along the Tongariro Crossing.
