Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. We’ll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.

The property

Welcome to Kramphouse, a much-loved family bach set right on the lakefront in Kuratau. With the reserve, sandy beach, and boat ramp just steps from your door, this is the perfect getaway for families, friends, and anyone seeking an authentic kiwi holiday. Spread across two levels, Kramphouse is designed with flexibility in mind. Both upstairs and downstairs provide their own bedrooms, bathroom, and living space, making it ideal for two families or different generations to holiday together while still enjoying privacy. Warm, cosy, and functional, this bach has everything you need while retaining its classic kiwi character. The open-plan lounge offers stunning views of the lake, where you can sit and watch boats launching from the nearby ramp. A well-appointed kitchen upstairs makes mealtimes easy, while downstairs includes a kitchenette for added convenience. Step outside to enjoy the garden, outdoor shower, and direct access to the reserve leading to the lakefront. The sandy beach in front of the bach is safe for swimming and perfect for children, while a small playground is just a 10-minute walk along the reserve. Guests are welcome to use the trampoline, kayaks, and aluminium dinghy, provided correctly fitted life jackets are worn. There’s also space behind the shed to store bikes, making this a great base for cycling and walking tracks nearby. When it’s time to explore, the floating rock café and winery is just 1.5km away, Tokaanu hot pools are 10 minutes by car, and Whakapapa ski field is a 50-minute drive. Turangi is 20 minutes away for supplies, while Taupō is within an hour. Lakefront and full of character, Kramphouse is the perfect spot for your next Kuratau adventure.

About the location

On the opposite side of the lake to Taupo, Kuratau is a small peaceful town with plenty of outdoor activities on offer. Spend the day out on the water with kayaks, boats and water skis, or go fly fishing for rainbow trout in the Tongariro River. Being further away from the bustle of Taupo, it's also an ideal location for a relaxing holiday to get away from it all.
