“This is a really comfortable place to stay, cosy and warm with a very efficient heat pump.”
The large bed was super comfortable and the views are outstanding. Every thing we needed was supplied including the bonus of a large, adjustable couch. The cottage is spacious with plenty of room to spread out.

Idyllic setting with ocean view in the front and cows grazing in the back. A little patch of heaven and tranquility. The bathroom sink and space could be a little bigger but but we managed. I would definitely stay here again!!

It will be nice to have the number attached to the address infront of the address. The property needs to have the heating done up it is very cold at night only where the bed is situated that is warmed by the heater.

The only thing was that the bed was a bit soft for us - of course this may be perfect for the next guests.

The owner tried his best to figure it out, but the fact is that he has wifi in his house but it is too weak for guests to connect to. He needs to get some google pucks so he can bounce the wifi up to the guest cottage. Aside from the wifi we had a great stay. Thanks

Awesome place with outstanding views

It had great views over Dunedin Harbour, cows in the paddock behind the house, that visited and looked in the windows :-) and white-faced herons in the same paddock, only a metre away from me sitting inside! It was lovely and warm and I felt very cosy. It had everything you needed AND more. I will definitely stay here again.

The property
Macbay Retreat is a cosy, romantic holiday home, perched on a hillside overlooking Macandrew Bay with a fabulous view of the Otago Harbour. Spend your days exploring the Otago Peninsula, enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside from a beautiful seaside village. Spending time at your own holiday home is also something to look forward to, with the opportunity of enjoying the outdoor views from the comfort of your bed. This is a holiday home that still has all the comforts and amenities that you would require from a holiday home and more including a Smart TV alongside WiFi. Macbay retreat features a large Super King-sized bed that combines a living and dining area with a kitchen. In warmer weather step outside and enjoy your meals outside in the fresh air all the time whilst all the time enjoying views of the bay area. With Dunedin being only a 15-minute drive away from the home, you’ll be able to stay connected with the rest of the south island. The nearest beach in Macandrew Bay is just a 2-minute drive away with the town having all the conveniences that you would require. Travel further up the Peninsula and see places such as Larnach Castle - considered by many to be New Zealand’s only castle. Right at the top, visit the Royal Albatross Centre, a nature preserve that has been beautifully looked after and would go down very well with any animal lover! Have a relaxing time at the stunning Macbay Retreat!

Guests should take care when accessing the property as there is a steep driveway and the footpath from the car port.
