For the ultimate Kiwi summer experience, it doesn’t get better than a stay at a classic Kiwiana bach in Waiheke island. .... find your happy place here at Birdsong Cottage. If an original Kiwi bach experience is what you are after, then this is the place for you. Instead of TV, WIFI and other modern day distractions, take time out to listen to the birds, read the many books on hand, play a board game, have a glass of wine and a chat with a loved one or just simply enjoy the serenity.
Birdsong Cottage is a quaint paradise that is simply brimming with character. As soon as you step foot inside, the quirky decor, creative artworks and snug open-plan living and dining area bring this charming home to life. Appointed with two bedrooms, the sunroom is converted to a double bedroom and a bunk room sleeps four, so that up to six guests can comfortably stay here.
The compact kitchen is equipped with a small stove, microwave and slow cooker, the ideal spot to whip up a tasty meal, which you may choose to enjoy at the snug dining table indoors, or outdoors in the private, attractive alfresco dining area, with a choice of sun or shade at any time of the day. The modern tiled indoor bathroom with a shower over the bath contrasts with the classic Kiwi experience of an outdoor flush toilet by torchlight. Can’t get more Kiwiana than that!
When the sun is hot and the beach calls, a swim at full tide at the local beach is only a three-minute walk away from Birdsong Cottage. A 15-minute walk away, and less tidal, is Whakanewha Beach reserve. For all-day sea, sun and sand, the popular Northern, white sand beaches are a 10-minute drive or a bus ride away.
If you are keen to explore more of the region while you are here, the iconic Mudbrick Vineyard and Restaurant is a must see, just a short 20-minute drive from your holiday home. Or, if you are looking for a day of casual exploring, Oneroa Beach and village is just a 15-minute drive from Birdsong Cottage. Here, there are a number of boutique shops, restaurants and cafes to chose from, such as Oyster Inn or Sol Bar and Cafe Waiheke as well as a number of tour operators.
Set the scene for a traditional NZ, idyllic summer here at Birdsong Cottage, where you have everything that this gorgeous island has to offer at your fingertips. Waiheke welcomes you!! Enjoy your original, traditional Kiwiana experience here at Birdsong Cottage.

If you like camping this is juts the same. Disappointed with this Bach to say the least, outside toilet with no light! Hot water issues, bugs galore!
Thank you for your review Gudrun! We're sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with your stay at Birdsong Cottage. We try to be as transparent as possible on the listing to ensure guests are aware of the quaint, relaxed style of this property, including notes that specify points guests need to be aware of in advance, such as the outside toilet having no electricity. We provide two torches and an outside light for this purpose. We're sorry to hear you had issues with the hot water! It was identified after your stay that one of the two cylinders had ran out of gas so it just needed swapping to the other - had we known during your stay we would've fixed this immediately for you. Insects are a common occurrence during summer but we do our best to stay on top of these with cleaning and spraying where necessary. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Waiheke Island!
