“The Barn was such a beautiful retreat for our family break.”

Really comfortable and unique home with great thought made to space and comfort. My favourite place to cosy up and relax with a book was in one of the day beds upstairs with a view out to the grounds and orchard. If peace and tranquility is what you are after, this is the place. The grounds are beautiful to explore and immaculately kept. John and Dallas live up the valley, are incredibly respectful and give you space whilst letting you know that they are there to make your stay 5 star. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious with lots of little touches. They were kind enough to give our children some country experiences, feeding and holding the hens, looking for eels and keeping watch while they floated flowers down the waterfall and waded in the stream. We hope we weren't too noisy and will be allowed back!

“Dallas and John were the loveliest hosts.”

We had an enjoyable stay at The Barn. It didn’t look like much on the outside but the layout and design on the inside was impressive. Everything is new and clean too. The breakfast, especially the homemade pastries were delicious! We would definitely come back to stay again. Only thing we would have enjoyed during our stay would be a spa pool.

First and foremost the hosts are both wonderful persons and the house is really nice and well stocked in any way. The huge garden is an amazing place to explore and the area is interresting with waterfalls, beaches and some very interesting walks - just what we were looking for on our holiday! “Our time at The Barn was an absolute joy!”

Tucked away just outside the township, this bed and breakfast is definitely one to experience. The lush surroundings are stunning and tranquil. Strolling around the grounds was relaxing and peaceful, with so many beautiful gardens to enjoy and a crystal clear stream running through it all, plus chickens and geese just hanging out. The hosts Dallas and John are absolutely lovely and were eager to help with anything they could to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. The breakfast basket provided was bountiful and delicious, with an option to restock anything we needed more of for the next morning. The Barn itself is comfy, well equipped and makes for a great place to relax. There's so much to do in and around it, with a rich history on the doorstep and plenty of walking tracks, and only a short drive to Waihi Beach. We can't wait to come back! Highly recommended

“Our family (kids 8,10 and 12) had a simply wonderful weekend away at the Barn.”

The property is an idyllic garden setting with a pond, river, chickens and ducks. We all had a great time playing pooh sticks down the river and enjoying the different aspects of the garden. Dallas and John were very friendly, welcoming and hospitable. The breakfast was a hit with us all - especially the home made muesli and Dallas' pastries :) The barn itself is very well appointed and warm and cosy. Good shower too :) It was spotlessly clean with comfy beds and nice linen. A peaceful and well located spot to explore the whole Waihi area. Highly recommend Down Thyme for a delicious dinner out too.
