“Charming property, very homely and lovely authentic decor.”
Was a pleasure to stay here and would definitely come back. Handy to the township too.

“Great holiday home located in rural Carterton.”
The house itself is well-appointed, cozy and warm in the winter. The property had a large deck and huge front/back yard for our children to run around in. There is plenty to do in the area for all ages- wineries, shopping, cafes, bushwalks, playgrounds etc. This was our second stay here and we would definitely come back again. We had a fantastic family holiday here!

The property
This romantic and characterful getaway is situated in the heart of the Wairarapa, just over an hours drive north of Wellington so once you're over the hill, you're on cottage time. Welcome to Larkhill.
This slice of peace and quiet is just waiting to be tapped in to. Set on a generous section on the edge of Carterton, you'll be spoilt with easy access to everything you need, met with a charming country ambience.
Here you'll find a colourful and warm interior to settle into, and a lush garden outside to marvel at as well. Sleeping up to six guests, it's perfect for a couple looking to get away, or a family looking for some well-deserved downtime together.
Larkhill comes equipped with all the holiday amenities, including a wood-burning fireplace for winter warmth, a TV with DVD player and a good selection of DVDs, a choice of board games for entertainment, and last but not least the BBQ for classic summer dinners fresh off the grill, best enjoyed outdoors of course!
Minutes away are award-winning wineries and breweries in Martinborough, or if you prefer shopping, lattes, and restaurants, Greytown is also within easy driving distance. For the group's adventurers, the beautiful Waiohine Gorge is nearby, which has some great hiking and river tracks.
For a real break this holiday, Larkhill awaits!
All guests should take extra care on the deck as there is no barrier to prevent falls.
As there is an unfenced pond in the back garden, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.

About the location
Carterton was established in 1857 to be the home for workers building the road between Greytown and Masterton. It is the main entry point for those wanting to explore the Tararua Ranges, with access through Mount Holdsworth. Carterton has a number of antique shops, and local craft outlets. Hot-air ballooning and an animal park are just two of the attractions on offer.
