Anchor in Akaroa is a 2-bedroom 1-bathroom cottage located in the heart of Akaroa. The slightly elevated position offers gorgeous views of the harbour and the surrounding hills. You'll love the combination of antique decor and modern touches, with a heat pump to keep you warm year round while still preserving that charming cottage atmosphere. Additionally, the bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, perfect for resting your head after a long day. When the weather is warmer, open the ranch sliders and step out into the private courtyard where you can enjoy a BBQ under the late afternoon sun. You're only a stone's throw away from the water if you feel the need to cool off at any stage throughout your stay. Being only a couple of minutes stroll from the main wharf and popular cafes and restaurants, you'll never be far from the action. The views and comfort that this Akaroa home provide will make your holiday one to remember for a long time to come!

Rob “We had complained upon arrival as we opened a door to move the BBQ, and the door was so rotten (the wood was rotted out) that the door could not be closed safely.”
The electrical wiring was faulty and kept tripping the circuit breaker, so we couldn’t really use the toaster and the kettle in the kitchen. The site manager said they had raised the electrical wiring with the owner several times, and nothing was done. The kitchen appliances were so old that we felt unsafe using them, so we only used the BBQ. The TV was also very small and not very usable. The beds were also very small, and we noted the comments on the visitors' book also commented on the poor bedding. The only real redeeming feature of the property was the view of the harbour. We would not recommend this place, having stayed in many other nice places in Akaroa.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry some aspects of your stay didn’t meet expectations and appreciate you letting us know. The home is a classic Warren and Mahoney design, and the owners have worked hard to maintain its original character. While some features are older, everything is in good working order. The TV is a 33-inch screen, and its placement is limited by the layout. The door is being attended to, and a new switchboard is being installed. We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you back for a more enjoyable stay. Bachcare
