Nicola “We had a lovely stay in Akaroa but it wasn’t quite as listed.”
The location was amazing and a short walk to the shops/ cafes/ waterfront. The house is reasonably aged, lots of external cobwebs, wasps nests and a dead mouse on the drive to greet us. The kitchen needs updating, the equipment was basic, oven archaic and no coffee plunger to be found. The bbq plate was rusty and needed a fair amount of cleaning to be able to cook our dinner. Bathroom was gorgeous but the shower drain clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a while, beds comfortable and good sized ...
Bathroom was gorgeous but the shower drain clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a while, beds comfortable and good sized bedrooms. We enjoyed the house but it wasn’t what we thought we had booked. Overpriced for the quality provided.
- Nicola, March 2024Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback and we are sorry that on this occasion the cleanliness of the property was not to our usual high standard. We will organise a deep clean to be done at the property to ensure more in-depth cleaning is completed to ensure this does not happen again. Bachcare

Jo “It was great place to stay very cosy with heat pumps on as it was a cold wet 2 days.”
Stairs were very steep. Would stay again
- Jo, April 2023Justine “Great location.”
Has aircon in each of the bedrooms plus lounge which is heaven in summer. Old bach, few spiderwebs on outdoor furniture, old kitchen and bathroom but has everything you need including a microwave (not on listing for some reason but it is there) and a large screen TV, and comfortable bedding and seating, and a good hose (if you own a boat/jetski). Would definitely stay again.
- Justine, February 2023Warren “Needs some work done in the shower.”
Need to advise people that it has a very steep and narrow stairway and may not be suitable for elderly or people unstable on their feet. Well equipped. Great location for cinema, cafés, shops, restaurants, and anything else to do in Akaroa.
- Warren, January 2023Jamin “We really enjoyed our stay at this centrally located property in Akaroa.”
Highlights included the spacious living area with large wall mounted TV, very comfortable beds in the tastefully decorated upstairs bedrooms, and the sunny patio. Thanks.
- Jamin, April 2022Pip “What a lovely place!”
So cheerful, great location, central but private. Perfect for a long weekend with family. Thank you!
- Pip, February 2022Karen “Good location and nice enough property but needs a good clean.”
Bedrooms which are upstairs very very very hot in summer.
- Karen, January 2022Kia ora Karen, Thank you for your feedback. We have looked into the cleaning and have installed air conditioning in both bedrooms upstairs, so guests can keep cool in the hot summer. We look forward to welcoming you back. Bachcare
Sue “A very cosy house, well equipped with everything you need.”
Enjoyed being just a few minutes stroll from all the shops & restaurants.
- Sue, December 2021Megan “This house is the typical kiwi batch.”
Very cute with heaps of character. Though we liked the property and the location was fabulous, we didn't think the price reflected the quality of the accomodation. After all the fees were added, the cost to stay here was reasonably expensive which would of been fine if the batch was more modern, but for an old, noisy kiwi crib, we thought the price was a bit steep. Though we loved the place, we wouldn't stay again because of this cost. There was no wifi either which was a shame.
- Megan, October 2021Derek “The house is well positioned for walking to the different amenities that Akaroa has to offer.”
The fire is great for a winter's stay. The lounge/diner is spacious enough. The kitchen is small but sufficient. The bed was very comfortable but the stairs are a little steep, but manageable with care.
- Derek, August 2021Jan “This was a great location, lovely and clean, the beds were very comfortable, would book to stay there again.”
