“We loved our stay at La Petite Maison.”
We stayed in winter and were so cosy with the fire. It had everything we could have needed from extra blankets, kids games to salt and pepper. It's so close to the beach/main street. Being able to take our dog was the difference for us being able to have a holiday and knowing he was securely fenced. There was an area on the deck where the fence didn't go as high as the front however so for someone who has a dog known to jump it might pay to confirm the height. One side of the shower door was ...

One side of the shower door was off the rail so may need looking at. Other than that it was well maintained and lovely and clean. Thank you for having us.

Jenna “I am happy with all my interactions with Bachcare but our stay at La Petite Maison was not great.”
When we arrived there was a mouse and mouse droppings all through the lounge. The property manager was supposed to bring over some mouse traps but they never showed. We woke up in the morning to find mouse droppings in two of the beds. It put a real damper on our stay.

The beds were comfortable. The children enjoyed some of the games you provided and I appreciated being able to read an early Charlotte Grimshaw novel I'd never seen. The deck area was great for morning and afternoon drinks and evening meals. The adults enjoyed the sound of the stream across the road and I was thrilled to hear the bird chorus every morning. The location so close to the waterfront and shops meant we could walk everywhere in town. We left a note saying the bar-b-que cover had fallen apart and that we'd given the bar-b-que a good clean - as well as the stove top - both of which looked a bit worse for wear. We had a comfortable, relaxed holiday at La Petite Maison and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.

The Turner whanau would like to thank you and the owners for allowing us to stay in their beautiful, warm, comfortable house. Our time spent there was relaxing, we all loved the house, the view and especially the birds. There are simply no words to define the experience we had. It takes special people to donate and sacrifice their house and business to strangers with trust. We are extremely grateful. As well as not being maintained ie pillows in dreadful state stains on bedding., mild and dirt on windows, lawn not mowed, It’s such a shame as if that was done and they spent some money on those things it would be a great property.

It was warm, clean and tidy on arrival and securely fenced.

Nothing had been prepared apart from the beds so we had to find out how to start wifi and tv. No dishwasher tablets left ( we eventually found some in the cupboard in the master bedroom) and the washing up scourer was In need of replacing. There are mouse droppings in one of the single bedrooms and I saw a mouse dash across the floor when I was in bed which wasn't nice! I think they are living under the deck as one of the dogs was very interested in going under had she been allowed. On. a positive note, the dogs enjoyed it and it was nice to have dog bowls left. Had the grass been cut it'd have been easier to find dog poo outside but otherwise it was good. Nice to have a washing machine and dryer there. It's very secure for dogs so great to be able to bring them and we are very happy about that. Just a few things to sort out!

It was a lovely, easy walk to and from the township and a warm, comfortable home to stay in. Waking in the morning to the sound of the dawn chorus was absolutely magical and a highlight for me. We would happily book again!

Some work needs to be done in the bedrooms to bring them up to the same standard. Bedding very lightweight and flimsy with lack of decent side tables, lights, wardrobe space with coat hangers etc. Electric blankets would have been a nice addition as would a heated towel rail in winter

It was a winter visit that we had and we were cosy and warm. The log fire added beautiful ambiance. The couches were comfortable, the kitchen well equipped for family meals and the bathrooms were lovely and clean. Thoroughly enjoyed everything.

Our grandchildren checked out books and toys. Kitchen had all equipment we needed. The hooks outside the bathroom are a good touch. Lovely to open up living space onto deck to let breeze in on arrival, but a big temperature drop the next day saw us have a cosy fire. A comfortable house for our changeable climate. Such a plus to be able to take our puppy and the house is really well set up for dogs, fully fenced and safe, with dog bowls provided! Ange, the Bachcare manager for the area is lovely and was very helpful, even posting back my daughter’s jacket that she managed to leave behind. The weather was much cooler in the evenings for our second stay but the wood burner was excellent and made the house very cosy. We absolutely love Akaroa and will definitely be back.
