    “An awesome property, well equipped with spectacular views.”

    We had 2 days "locked down" by torrential rain and it was a pleasure! Plenty of room, a great kitchen, awesome views. We'd come again! When the rain cleared it showed just how good the views are!

Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. We’ll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.

The property

Nothing to interrupt an unforgettable view out onto the ever-changing waters of the harbour, the surrounding hills, and the splendid sky - Taka Retreat will not disappoint! A unique, new, architectural home that features a savvy mix of corten steel, cedar, and stone. Immaculately decorated with thoughtfully curated furnishings, you will be hard pressed to find a corner of this home that doesn't offer utter luxury and seamless styling. An elegant and artistic interior from the schist rock feature wall, the hand-painted mural surrounding the reading nook, seamless indoor/outdoor flow, and finally to the custom laser-cut steel patterned wall down the western side of the home. Taka Retreat is an indulgent escape, where you'll be waking up to the sound of native birds, enjoying breakfast with a view and at the end of the day, sipping a long cool drink on the deck overlooking the water. Stay cool under the air-conditioning or enjoy the fresh air out of the sun under the large, sheltered sundeck fitted with outdoor speakers. In winter, there is a lovely gas fire inside and a large heat pump, your choice to keep toasty warm. There is room to park a boat or two on the driveway, and the use of the large internal access garage. The daybed can be made up as an extra if required. Just an eight-minute drive from the busy summer crowds of Akaroa, this splendid location gives you the very best of both worlds. So close to the fabulous restaurants, bars and the many amazing activities to be found in the quaint historic village of Akaroa, then back to the peace of Takamatua Bay.
