Thalia “Perfect spot in Paihia with walking distance to everything, beds are comfy and house is well equipped with everything to make your stay comfortable.”
- Thalia, August 2024 -
Prue “The only thing that could be changed would be to provide a bit more comfortable ...”
The only thing that could be changed would be to provide a bit more comfortable seating in the lounge area Location was great and close to everything
- Prue, April 2024Katrin “We had a lovely stay at Wairangi Beach Cottage.”
Such a beautiful home in a great location and very nice and clean! We had everything we needed and would definitely stay again. Thank you!
- Katrin, March 2024Helen “Great location, easy walk to shops and ferry.”
Beautiful views of the water. Really enjoyed our stay. Table outside was only 4 seater for 6 of us staying. Beds were really comfy!
- Helen, February 2024Tricia “What an amazing place.”
Couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay. The listing was exactly as expected. Great location and the house had everything that we could possibly want. There were 8 of us in total and everything was spot on, plenty of space. Will definitely be looking to make another visit later in the year - thank you Paihia - you were amazing
- Tricia, January 2024Denise “This house was perfect for us as we were looking after our grandson's for a few nights as their parents were getting married.”
The house was comfortable and there was enough space for all of us. The kitchen had everything that was required even a dishwasher with plenty of dishwasher tablets, often you go somewhere and there is not enough stuff. We came in from Australia, so we don't want to be buying this stuff whilst we are away. Likewise, there was washing powder for the washing machine. The only thing was that the batteries were flat within one of the remotes so we had to keep swapping the batteries between the TV remove and the heatpump remote! I do wonder whether it would be worthwhile getting one of those stick vacuum cleaners for downstairs as lugging the big one up and down the stairs could be a bit tiring!
- Denise, October 2023Olga “The property was clean and really well set up.”
There was thought put into what would make a stay comfortable, including first aid kit, thermal cups, games, books and DVDs, extra towels, pantry staples. Having pegs and washing powder available was really useful. It was great staying somewhere that was practical and useful in what was available, as well being really nice. We had a great time and would happily return. Thanks so much.
- Olga, September 2023Lainie “Your beach cottage was the perfect accommodation for our two families.”
It was very clean and tidy with all the amenities we needed. The location and convenience to everything was amazing. We loved being able to walk into town each morning for a daily coffee.
- Lainie, July 2023Reid “Skint on cutlery and sitting room insufficient room for amount of beds.”
Fantastic location.
- Reid, April 2023Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear about the issues you had with accessing the property. We have raised this with our team and have worked to improve this process, so it doesn’t happen again. We do hope we can host you again in the future. Bachcare
John “Glasses ,cups and crockery generally need supplementing Joining instructions need updating and improving.”
There is only one lockbox not two Enter the property from the road via an ungated driveway on the far side of the property when arriving from the South
- John, March 2023Carl “This property was perfect for our family.”
We were in Paihia for a family wedding. Fantastic location and everything we needed for our stay. Thank you
- Carl, March 2023Murray “It is really unfortunate but we will not be able to return to this property and think it only fair that other guests should be alerted to the neighbours.”
The property itself is lovely and we stayed there many years ago, but this visit we stayed for 3 nights during the week and every night there was so much disruption from a nearby property of permanent residents it made us on edge and woke all 6 of us on numerous occasions. Sorry for the review but they are incredibly disrespectful people and ruined a great time in Paihia.
- Murray, January 2023Thank you for your review of Wairanga Beach Cottage, we're very sorry to hear about the disruption that happened around you as we haven't received any complaints regarding the neighbors before. We encourage our guests to contact noise control if they are having issues with neighboring noise issues. We are pleased outside of this that you enjoyed your stay. Bachcare
michelle “Great location, if I had to pick one little point that didn't work well for 6 adults, the lounge area was small and didn't have enough seating for all of us, but we made it work with some deck chairs.”
.due to rain we couldn't use the decking area.. would stay again as everything else was great...
- michelle, January 2023Cathy “We had an excellent stay.”
Was noise from the road but the listing mentioned that. Very well equipped house. Great location. A few things would make stay even better.... a BBQ (weird to have a beach house and no access to a barbie!!), also some more outdoor furniture/loungers. Weren't too sure if we were allowed to use the back section. More info about how to deal with waste and recycling and where to get clear recycling bags from - got there in the end but would have been easier if info had been in house (and one or two bags to start us off) Also from South Island - so not used to dehumidifiers! Weren't sure if you wanted us to use that/keep it going/turn it on/off Everything else was lovely.

- Michelle, June 2022KATHRYN “House is in a great location to town.”
It is well equipped and the four bedroom are well spaced and private to each other. We had no issues accessing the house but it does get a lot of noise from the street due to its location and exposure.
- KATHRYN, March 2022Rachel “Overall, a very nice place.”
Well presented and appointed. Perfect location being within walking distance of all tourist activities for Paihia.
- Rachel, January 2022Sandi “The house is in the perfect location for accessing Paihia by foot.”

- Sandi, September 2021Leanne “We went to Wairangi Cottage for a girls long weekend and had a fabulous time.”
The property exceeded our expectations. The Cottage was absolutely lovely, well presented upon our arrival, heat pump and lights already on. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were very comfy. The views were wonderful, we probably spent more time at the Cottage, just chilling out and talking, than we had intended. We would highly recommend the Cottage, so close to everything but lovely and quiet. Debbie the manager was very helpful and was a great communicator, lovely to deal with.

- Philip, September 2020Greg “Fantastic, well-equipped house and outstanding location.”
Bed warmers on every bed were welcomed by all over a winter weekend. Beach towels came in very handy. Excellent communications with the property manager. However, there were noisy people passing by outside or nearby every night, very late, even off season. I played my “white noise” app and went back to sleep.

Town is just a 5min stroll away, the beach is right across the road and the big lawn at the front was perfect for the kids to run and kick a ball around on. The property
Wairangi is a four bedroom beach house located in the historic precinct of Paihia and situated on the site of the first Mission House erected by the Rev. William Williams. The house has beach front views with grassed areas in the front and back of the property which is great for families. It is located on Marsden Road which is the main entry point into the Paihia township and as such it can be busy at times. The holiday home features a spacious living/dining area with French doors leading onto a large timber deck with unobstructed sea views, a full kitchen and 4 double bedrooms. There are three bedrooms upstairs, two containing one queen bed each and one with two king single beds. The main bathroom is also located upstairs. The forth bedroom is downstairs with a queen size bed. There is a shower and toilet downstairs. A porta-cot is available making this property suitable for couples or families. Even in winter, experience the rich heritage of the area- Waitangi, Keri Keri and Russell. Visit Cape Reinga and enjoy sliding down the sand dunes, eat fish and chips on the wharf at Mangonui or book an enthralling fishing trip. Modern amenities also include a Smart TV, DVD Player, dishwasher, microwave and reverse cycle air conditioner. All of this plus you will be just minutes away from the shops, cafes, ferries and various leisure activities. Come and enjoy the magic of the Bay of Islands.
As the property has unfenced access to the beach, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.
Due to the proximity to town, there may be some noise heard from the property.
