Jim “We really enjoyed our stay in chalet 8 at Wairoro Park surrounded by trees and bush.”
The unit was well laid out, well equipped and very clean. The site beside the sea with its private beach and kayaks was very special. Ceiling fans at the hottest time of the year were very welcome. I do feel however that the place was let down by the grounds appearance and some very old buildings. There is a partially filled pond that seemed just a home for mosquitoes and the lifejackets were stained and very unappealing. There is scope for a lot of maintenance! I think the owners should ...
I think the owners should stress the beauty of the surroundings and bush and do more planting, and clear away the various broken down structures. Deckchairs, paving, shelters do not last for ever and need to be regularly upgraded. A bush walk where we night have seen kiwi at night would be welcome. As we never saw any management staff, for five nights access to more than one hand towel would have been nice, maybe four rather than three towels for the two of us.

Ros “Wairoro Park has a quiet idyllic setting, but not all of the cabins are equal.”
The photo featured on this request and your website shows Cabin 8 The Stables with SUNSHINE ON THE DECK. Aside of a little filtered sun reaching there mid afternoon briefly and a little mid morning sun near the back porch, sun did not penetrate the talls trees. Consequently I found the cabin to be cool and dark. The darkness was compounded by the fact that the circuit breaker for the lights kept being tripped, even after all other power sources (except the fridge) were turned off. There is also a sign on the light switch over the dining table that says DO NOT USE, and the light bulb is removed. I also had trouble with the extractor fan in the shower not working, and I couldn't engage the shower slide to prevent water from splashing outside the shower cubicle. Otherwise everything else was fine. I met the owner the first morning (thursday) and had a lovely chat with her about how lucky we were to be able to share her home and gardens etc. The dog loved the place and settled in well, and I met a rodent and possum trapper who was setting bait. Generally the stay was good, but marred by the poor light, coldness of the cabin, and lack of lights and other faulty equipment. It wasn't cheap to stay in fairly basic accommodation, so I would expect a better quality of service and upkeep of the property.

Julie “A wonderful location & so very peaceful.”
Loved the bush setting and birds. Enjoying the grounds & morning coffee on the beach. A very relaxing Bach with all amenities provided. Within walking distance to the amazing Omata Winery right next door.
- Julie, February 2023Wendy “A wonderful place to stay with our dogs.”
The cabin was perfect and very comfortable and easy access to Russell and surrounds. Would love to come and stay again.
- Wendy, December 2022Alcyon “Hi there loved the stay changed from room 8 to 6 to appreciate the views.”
We wanted to get away from it all and this enabled us to just relax. I do feel that some of the tee tree could be cut back to really enjoy the view. But really love the location will definitely book again
- Alcyon, September 2022Lex and Sarah “This was enjoyable pet friendly place to stay, it had everything that we needed.”
It was a great base to get to lots of local activities, added bonus the vineyard next door is dog friendly as well

Doesn't have all the bells and whistle, hence making the perfect accomodation for a dog friendly stay in an ideal secluded location
- Cheyne, December 2020Eleonora “Wairoro Park is the perfect place to stay in Russell and spend your holidays, it’s beautiful little paradise!”
Highly recommend to anyone.

- Denika, October 2020Buddy “A beautiful part of the country well worth a visit .”
- Buddy, October 2020Richard “Enjoyed our stay, with facilities just OK for 2 people.”
Loved the location, especially the songs from the birds in the adjacent bush and the beach close by.
- Richard, February 2020Peter “Awesome location very secluded, this cottage is furthest away of the 3.”
Great nature so many birds and native Bush. Great for dogs with the secure deck. There's nothing too fancy inside, just a classic kiwi Bach. Beach was not too tidal or shelly as I thought it might be, just muddy if you go too far out. Easy to head into Russell from here.
- Peter, January 2020Eleonora “Wairoro Park is an excellent place to spend your holiday, simply beautiful and also you can take your dog with you.”
This place was above my expectations. I will definitely come back again.
- Eleonora, December 2019Jayde “Just a quick birthday getaway to Russell, first off great location not too far from the ferry terminal and main town centre.”
Large property with kayaks and a paddleboard free for guest use. The deck and bbq are an added bonus. All in all a great place to just relax
- Jayde, November 2019Te Ao “A few hickups in the beginning but Bachcare did a fantastic job of helping me book a last minute accommodation and sorting out any issues.”
Beautiful little corner tucked just out of reach from Russell Bay, a great little escape from the city with sun, beach and native bush all in 64 hectares of paradise.
- Te Ao, October 2019Josie “The Stables is the closest of the three cottages to the bush which means more chance of seeing weka and kiwi, but a little less sunlight and not quite so much of a sea view.”
For us that was good, but if you prefer more sunshine then go for the Cowshed. We had a pleasant stay, we were mostly out hiking but the bach would be a nice place to spend more time.
- Josie, October 2019Jann “Down to earth comfort that suited us perfectly.”
Clean, peaceful, dog friendly, beach access, walks. Very relaxing.
- Jann, April 2019Jan “Lovely and private, right by the beach, lovely having the birds, farm animals ...”
Lovely and private, right by the beach, lovely having the birds, farm animals and dogs on site and having our own bbq on our deck was great
- Jan, February 2019Roger “My wife and I enjoyed our stay, appreciated the secluded location and the beach, loved the sound of the birds around us.”
- Roger, February 2019Vomle “This is a wonderful and peaceful place to stay with your dog.”
We enjoyed our stay, the beach, bbqing on the deck, and use of the stand up paddle board. A well appointed bach with everything you need. We'd love to return again soon sometime.
