“Brilliant property where everything is thought of.”
Warm, comfy, private, well maintained, easy to live in - perfect.
Warm, comfy, private, well maintained, easy to live in - perfect.- Hamish, December 2023
“What a wonderful stay!”
! Absolutely bliss and the underfloor heating was the star in the middle of winter. Great cooking space, ample amenities, everything you need for a great weekend away. Fantastic instructions for everything in the house. Couldn't fault it.- Marcus, August 2023
“We stay, worldwide, in a lot of accomodation through providers such as Bachcare and I can say that this is quite probably the best example we have every stayed in.”
Beautiful architecturally, thoughtfully appointed and in a location that is amazing. Simply brilliant.- Roger, July 2023
“A amazing property offering stunning views and complete privacy.”
Don’t expect the facilities of a town on the doorstep - the nearest is probably at least a 30 minute drive away. That said the Villa is very well and thoughtfully equipped. It is ‘Off Grid’ so no leaving all the light on. It is not the easiest of places to find and google maps also do not have it right and it also prone to loosing signal when it thinks you have arrived. A car is essential and to fully appreciate the location you not only need a 4 x 4 but also be comfortable on dirt roads with some extreme hillside roads and probably have experience or additional training in driving in this manor. That said the benefits and rewards are well worth it. Google’s route from Christchurch takes you down a road clearly signed 4 x 4 vehicles only, there is apparently an easier option but it’s the 3rd choice!- David, July 2023
“Beautiful property- well equipped and comfortable.”
Only issue was the underfloor heating did not come on in the morning at breakfast time so it was freezing. Had to huddle under blankets. Otherwise wonderful.- Deidre, May 2023
“House was reasonably well appointed although there was no coffee machine, which we would expect for a property in this price range.”
Also we were really disappointed that 90% of the view is obscured by trees so in fact no view really from the house. House is also very isolated. We were expected to remove our own rubbish, which proved to be impossible as the local refuse station is closed on Sundays and Mondays.- Michelle, March 2023
Thank you for reviewing your recent stay here, Michelle. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and we have taken note of your comments. The trees shelter the house and lawn from the prevailing wind and after many years of assessment it was felt that small framed views were the best of both worlds. As this is a house rental, guests’ rubbish can be left at the refuse station 1 km on the road out and is open 24/7. We hope that even with the issues described, you were still able to relax on your holiday here and that we will be hosting you again soon. Bachcare
“We loved our stay at this property.”
It is extremely well equipped, and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Loved that you could walk down to the beach for morning and evening swims.- Sharon, January 2023
“The property was excellent in all respects and met our expectations.”
However, I did not enjoy my experience with Bachcare and would likely avoid a property run by Bachcare in the future. Attitude was inflexible and lacked any 'customer is important' element.- Chris, November 2022
“Lovely peaceful place to stay, wish we had booked for longer”- Kathryn, October 2022
“Absolutely stunning home with a lot of thought given to making our stay warm and welcoming, the ice in the deep freeze was an extra special touch!”- Toni, October 2022

The stunning weather helped combine a great weekend in a beautiful property.- Nicola-Jane, June 2022
“Home and location was perfect!”
Will be coming back for sure!- Mari, April 2022
“Breathtaking private views, isolated and romantic, we won’t forget our stay there, thank you”- Rola, January 2022

“Very relaxing property.”- Brent, May 2020
“A beautiful home in a peaceful, beautiful setting.”
A bit more remote than we had expected, but once we settled in and got to know the area, we thoroughly enjoyed the sounds of the surf, the birds, and the sheep and cattle in the distance. The house is beautifully designed for gathering and enjoying the outdoors either in the outside sitting area or from the living room with the doors fully open. Very comfortable living space and very comfortable, well appointed sleeping accommodations. We all slept very well after all the fresh air and daily adventures! Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful home!- Michael, February 2019
