Linen

Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. We’ll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.

The property

Shakespeare Cottage is a 2 bedroom, plus sleep out that sleeps 8 guests. A delightful getaway nestled in an idyllic bush setting, this Front Beach bach is waiting to create happy holiday memories for couples and families! A tastefully decorated cosy retreat, Shakespeare Cottage boasts uninterrupted views over Front Beach, Mercury Bay and the moored boats in Flaxmill Bay. Sitting at a level above the cottage, with equally stunning views, is a very tidy sleep out - just the place for another couple or the teenage children. This Front Beach accommodation functions on a single level with a sun filled deck connecting living spaces. This property is a work in progress and the cottage theme continues to evolve as more natural timber and early settler furnishings are added throughout - Shakespeare Cottage is a funky mix of old and new! The generous kitchen is NZ Kauri and has a well loved history after spending time in Northland and South Auckland homes before being fitted into Shakespeare. Sleeping quarters at Shakespeare Cottage are conveniently located off the hallway from the living areas. The main bedroom has a queen size bed with views out over Flaxmill Bay and Shakespeare Bluff. The second bedroom has a double bunk bed and a trundler pullout bed. The sleepout provides an additional sleeping area, with a queen sized bed, and is only a few metres away from the cottage. The family bathroom is conveniently located by the kitchen. The remainder of the property is largely bush and rocky outcrops. Take a walk up the hill through the bush, to discover stunning views of Mercury Bay! With the large rocky features we recommend children are accompanied when walking in the bush areas. Shakespeare Cottage is located between Front Beach and Flaxmill bay. An easy 200m walk allows you to choose either beach - Flaxmill bay is great for swimming or launching a boat. This location is a great base from which to enjoy all that Mercury Bay has to offer - Cathedral Cove, Hot Water Beach, Whitianga, local wineries, boutique cafe's, and much more. Please note there are aspects of this property, large rocks and walls, that may make it unsuitable for young children or toddlers.

As this property is located on a hill it is surrounded by steep drop-off areas that include rocky surfaces. It is important that all guests take extra care on and around the section, deck, and the car park space as there are no handrails or barriers to prevent falls. Adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around these areas.

There is limited turning space for larger vehicles and therefore only small boats can be considered. Parking for 3 cars is available at the cottage level, with additional parking down on the road.
