Avril “Absolutely incredibly romantic spot with wonderful views and great walks up Mount Paku and down to Tiarua .”
Just loved the location and the walks and adored the Bach. BUT NEEDED A BACH MANUAL to EXPLAIN ... 1/ Location of lounge light switches = in laundry behind a curtain .. no lights at dinner on first night !! Never thought to look there ! 2/ Shower was cold til last day WHEN we realised we had to check the " trip switches " orange one was down .. Brrrr! ... FREEZING COLD showers for 4 days . 3/ Location of a heater ??? 4/ Is there a WIFI CODE ?? ( if any ! ) Maintenance and Cleaning .... Substandard considering we paid $100 exit cleaning fee . 1/ Cobwebs and Ants everywhere 2/ Bulb in big lamp in lounge broken ... we took one out of ceiling as thought those lights were broken as couldn't locate lounge light switches ( in laundry) 3/ Toaster broken and cockroach jumped out of it AND no toilet roll .One would have been nice until we went shopping . But if all the above was fixed and the place cleaned properly with a working hot shower ... WE WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN as just loved the bach and the location was perfect .... And the views to die for !! THANK YOU .

Outside deck downstairs and large window seat in upstairs bedroom. Very private with comfortable bed, nice as a couples retreat. Driveway not for the fainthearted as very steep and narrow but possible to turn car on bottom.

But the beds are hard and the shower weak. We found the driveway ok if you reversed down. Take mosquito spray.

Lovely spot, but be prepared to back up a steep driveway if you have a large car.

It is as it says a simple stay - take a fan with you - bedroom has lovey views but gets very hot, do not take a low car - the driveway is steep with very little room to turn around, lovely if you are a couple that just want to get away from it all and hide away

Comfortable, well maintained, and very tidy. Facilities are simple (as advertised) but exceeded our expectations with some nice touches and more than enough for cooking stovetop meals. The upstairs room is stunning with views across the harbour to distant hills, and wonderful stargazing at night. Loved the birds in the native trees around the house. We look forward to returning!

Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. Weâll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.
The property
The perfect getaway for couples who like to enjoy some privacy in quiet surroundings but still close to all activities. Paku Escape is a modern one bedroom bach with spectacular views out towards Pauanui and Tairua, the Pacific Ocean and the tranquil Tairua harbour. With its spacious open-plan living area and kitchen corner that leads out onto a sunny deck, a roomy double bedroom upstairs, it has all the essentials you need for a fantastic Holiday. The pull out sofa makes a double bed with a futon mattress for a third person or another couple if required. Nestled against the side of Paku, this property is quiet and secluded, yet so close to all Tairua has to offer. It's just a 5 minute walk to the beach and nearby restaurants or a 15 minute walk to the shops. Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove are only a 20 minute drive away. This is the perfect spot for the well deserved getaway. Go fishing, diving, kajaking, swim in the safe harbor or surf the waves at Tairua beach. Walk up Paku, Mt. Pauanui or climb the Pinnacles. Alternatively simply enjoy the spectacular views, the colorful sunsets, the sound of the birds and the whoosh of the waves. Put up your hammock under the trees and relax. Paku Escape is perfect for couples looking for privacy. However, it is not suitable for small children or guests with mobility issues as there is no handrail on the stairs up to the bedroom and there is no railing on the deck.
All guests should take care when using the stairs as they do not have a barrier to prevent falls.
Please note that the driveway is very steep, so extra care is needed when accessing the property.
There are no curtains on the main bedroom window. There is full privacy and great views allowing morning sunlight to flood the room.

A 25 minute drive from bustling beach resort Pauanui, Tairua is the perfect spot for exploring the east coast and its offshore islands. Stunning views out to the Alderman, Slipper and Shoe Islands, and climbing up Mount Paku you'll be welcomed by views back to The Pinnacles in Coromandel Forest Park.
