“Excellent location with splendid views.”
Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen. Bathroom ok and good laundry facilities. Spacious lounge, but some of the 'comfortable ' chairs are needing replacement. While the decking gave easy access to the outdoor area, we did note one particular board near the top of the stairway is bending and could need replacement in the next 12 months. Confusing instructions regarding the placement of the yellow bin for the Monday council rubbish collection. We enjoyed our time at Matai Cottage and ...

Since we last stayed at TÅtara avenue a few decades ago a sandbank has formed out front attracting a variety of wading birds on tidal flat. Stunning sunrises with beautiful tÅtara and matai around bach. Kitchen had all we needed to cook. A wonderful place as a walking base and to relax. Thank you.

The house was very comfortable, and well equipped. We especially loved the selection of puzzles and games, given that we were staying during the tail end of the summer cyclone which meant several days of rain (we didn't get to appreciate the views shown in the pictures & there was no need to get the outdoor furniture or bbq out

It is accessible to the water, however if your stay is not within the right tide time, you will be disappointed with not having a swim. It was not a problem with our stay. Plenty of games to play so children definitely got their detox of the internet.

Beautiful location where you can swim, fish and kayak without travelling anywhere. All your basic needs met in Collingwood, a 10 minute drive away. We had a great stay.

Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. Weâll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.

The living room, dining room and master bedroom all open out to the views, the sundeck and then down onto the waterfront lawn area. Sleeping up to 6 guests, Matai Cottage is a great place to settle into with your family or group offering all the essentials including a BBQ for those classic kiwi summer dinners fresh off the grill and private access down to the water. Take some time out to get away from it all or use this as a base to do some local exploring. Matai Cottage is positioned on Farewell Spit, which offers wonderful walks from the cliffs to Wharariki Beach and the walks in Kaharangi National Park. A delightful Golden Bay escape awaits at Matai Cottage!
As the property has unfenced access to the beach, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.
