Linen
Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. We’ll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.
The property
Peacefully tucked away amongst the trees, fabulous views out over the glistening water and two garden paths down to the river and lake's edge. This central plateau holiday home is a hidden treasure that's a must-see - Welcome to Puketapu! Thoughtfully decorated and furnished with an eye for comfort, you can't help but feel welcomed and relaxed from the minute you arrive. Spread across two levels, Puketapu offers ample space for everyone to come together in the upper open plan living, dining and kitchen space. Then at the end of the day when its time to wind-down, there is plenty of space for everyone to find a comfy place to rest their head. The private, gated access to either the Kuratau River or the lake means you're perfectly set up for the best fly fishing spots - so be sure to pack the fishing rods. Spend your summer days wandering through the garden down to the water and exploring the nearby lakeside walking tracks. When you need to get away, have a worry-free break and make this holiday one to remember - Puketapu ticks all the boxes!
As there is an unfenced access to the river and lake via the garden, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.

About the location
On the opposite side of the lake to Taupo, Kuratau is a small peaceful town with plenty of outdoor activities on offer. Spend the day out on the water with kayaks, boats and water skis, or go fly fishing for rainbow trout in the Tongariro River. Being further away from the bustle of Taupo, it's also an ideal location for a relaxing holiday to get away from it all. All of our Kuratau holiday homes are pre-inspected prior to your arrival and are ready for instant online booking.

“The location of the property was incredible – such a special part of Lake Taupō with a lovely connection to the native bush and the Kuratau River.”
We really enjoyed waking up each morning to the mature native trees and watching the birdlife, which was a highlight for our family. We also appreciated the local knowledge shared by John next door, especially the suggestions for local walks and the option to park our jet ski on the river. This made our lake days easy and stress-free, and it was great to avoid the busy boat ramps. Just a small note for Bachcare: the hot water cylinder in the west wing wasn’t switched on when we arrived, and ...

Just a small note for Bachcare: the hot water cylinder in the west wing wasn’t switched on when we arrived, and the gas bottles for the Infinity hot water ran out on day five, so they may not have been full prior to check-in. We also noticed that bottom sheets and pillowcases were missing in one of the twin rooms. These things were sorted quickly once we got in touch, but it would have been nice for everything to be in place from the start. Overall, thank you for a wonderful week away. We loved every day of our stay and would absolutely consider returning in the future.
