The property
Peacefully tucked away amongst the trees, with fabulous views over the glistening water and two garden paths leading to the river and lake’s edge, this lakefront holiday home is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. Welcome to Puketapu! Thoughtfully decorated and designed with comfort in mind, you will feel welcomed and relaxed the moment you arrive. Spread across two levels, Puketapu offers plenty of space for family and friends to come together in the open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area upstairs. This inviting space is the heart of the home, a place to simply unwind or plan the day's adventures. The private gated access to the Kuratau River or lake’s edge is perfectly positioned for fly fishing, or to simply relax and take in the tranquil surroundings. Explore the scenic walking and biking tracks, and during the cooler months, the Whakapapa Ski Area is just a 45-minute drive away, making this bach an ideal base for year-round adventures. Surrounded by nature, Puketapu is the perfect setting to create lasting memories all year round.
As there is an unfenced access to the river and lake via the garden, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.
About the location
On the opposite side of the lake to Taupo, Kuratau is a small peaceful town with plenty of outdoor activities on offer. Spend the day out on the water with kayaks, boats and water skis, or go fly fishing for rainbow trout in the Tongariro River. Being further away from the bustle of Taupo, it's also an ideal location for a relaxing holiday to get away from it all. All of our Kuratau holiday homes are pre-inspected prior to your arrival and are ready for instant online booking.

Amelia “Amazing place to stay - the view was idyllic and a great time waster.”
Huge house with plenty of room for two families. We loved being able to walk out the gate to the lake. We will definitely be back!
