Waitetoko Beach is also ideal for swimming, kakaying and simply strolling and taking in the serenity! There are two kayaks available at Ani Miria Lakefront, if you're wanting to get out on the lake for a paddle.

The local fishing spot is the trout river and is a highly sought after international fly fishing destination. The Hatepe, Tauranga Taupo and Tongariro rivers are also well known. Planning to hit the snowy slopes? Whakapapa Ski Field, Mt Ruapehu and the Tongariro Crossing, one of NZ’s Great Walks, are all within an hours drive.

You're just 10-minutes drive from Turangi for supplies, restaurants and takeaways, or fire up the BBQ back home and dine al fresco on the deck. Taupo is a 30-minute drive away for those wanting to spike the heart rate at the Adventure Capital of the North Island!

This property is in a nice location with only a park between you and the lake, the property is in good condition for it's age and the furnishings are adequate. The beds are soft (think trampoline and you're close) and the road noise from the nearby highway at night is bad. This makes getting a good night sleep hard. The property was mostly clean however the bottom of the toilets were not cleaned, there was milk left in a milk frother and the BBQ was dirty. For our stay in January 2022 there was construction work next door, we were not informed of this prior to booking despite learning that the owners knew about the work and the disturbance it would cause. To me this is really nasty. We had informed Bachcare of the disturbance this caused immediately after we found out the owners were aware of the work and the disturbance this would cause, 3 weeks on 2 more follow up phone calls and we are yet to get a resolution. My suggestion is to book elsewhere, where hopefully you will find a holiday home with more honest owners and you will actually get what you expect.

Lovely large house for our 3 family stay altogether. Especially has the weather wasnt nice for our stay, so the large house was awesome to have our own space when needed. Lovely spot right on the lake edgejust needed to watch the younger kids near the water. Very clean and tidy and comfortable. We will be back!
