Pet Friendly Outdoor Only
A rare find just seconds from the edge of the Tauranga-Taupo River, Riverbed Lodge is a huge holiday house ideal for your next extended family vacation, sleeping up to 17 across 7 bedrooms.
Not just for the human members of your family, Riverbed Lodge is pet-friendly too and fully fenced with plenty of space to run and play.
Riverbed Lodge is a holiday home reminiscent of Kiwi summers of old, where every second was spent outdoors fishing, swimming, climbing trees or playing backyard cricket.
Riverbed Lodge has a large living area up and downstairs, decked out with retro style and plenty of comfy couches for watching movies or getting stuck into a good book. With four bedrooms upstairs, and three bedrooms and separate kitchenette downstairs, there's more than enough space for the whole whanau.
Keen fishers will love the location, right on the banks of Tauranga-Taupo River - a hotspot for famous brown and rainbow trout. Peaceful and secluded, you can disconnect entirely from big city life at Riverbed Lodge.
Spend the days fishing, or pack a picnic and take the 12-minute walk to Oruatua picnic site and pretty Maraetai Bay. You're just 5-minutes drive from Turangi for supplies and takeaways, and 30-minutes from Taupo.
For an old-school getaway and return to the simple life, Riverbed Lodge is waiting to welcome you!

Perfect for our group of 16. Plenty of space so we were not on top of each other but lounge area and outside porch were we could gather.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. Such a big and spacious house - suited our extended family so well. Great location. We would definitely come back again.

Unfortunately I would recommend this property be taken off Bachcare until it has been brought up to a more adequate standard.
Thank you for your review Bridget. We are sorry to hear you didn’t find the property up to standard. We are working with the owner on the necessary improvements required at the property. We do hope that the compensation amount offered helped make up for the points you raised with us.

This is a great spot for a large family that needs lots of rooms. Its basic but clean. All the facilities are there and there is plenty of room. The house is right by the state highway and is noisy with trucks passing. Could do with some updated cooking equipment.

Cocroach infested and dirty. Would not recommend.
Thank you for your valuable feedback. At Bachcare we take cleaning very seriously to maintain our high standard. It's unfortunate that this was not what you experienced, as that is not our standard. We are working with our local team to get the property bug sprayed and deep cleaned.

Really great big house ideal for a large group who enjoy river and lake swims. The house itself is quirky with a mixture of different styles and in some places rugged (beautiful furniture though!) but the location, the ease of the walk to swimming spots and an ourdoor lawn and big clothes line make it ideal for a relaxed beachy holiday. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here over summer. It was the perfect place for our extended family holiday. Thank you to Benita for such great service and to the owners for lending us their comfy big summer batch.

Great place to stay for a large group or family. If you are wanting 5-star accommodation, then stay somewhere else. If you are wanting a large clean place to stay with character, then you have found the right one. Very close to the Marina and park area (5min drive) to take young kids to play safely by the lake front or have a game of cricket on the reserve. Not far to Turangi to use the Hot Pools and go shopping at the supermarket. Only an hour away to visit the Army museum in Waiouru to have some fun. There is a petrol station right across the road to stock up on fresh milk etc, and they do Fish and chips and burgers etc. The Property is on the main road (Highway one) so is a bit noisy with trucks etc through the night, but you cannot do anything about that. If you have very young children in your group, you will have to keep an eye on them while outside. The property does say it is fenced but it is small and easy for young children to climb over. But all in all, a great place to spend with your family with lots of beds and rooms to play or relax.

This is a good house to rent for a number of families, especially with kids.

This house was awesome. Clean, no bugs anywhere and huge space.
MelStayed February 2020
Nice big property. Huge enough for a massive family. Downfall were the creepy crawlies. Few cockroaches, insects and got eaten by fleas. Manager was very friendly though.
Thanks for your review Mel. We're sorry about the bugs you encountered at Riverbed Lodge, unfortunately critters can be common at this time of year. We're sorry that you were bitten on holiday, the property has been checked before the next guests are due to arrive. We hope to welcome you back in the future to show you a better time!
JordanStayed January 2020
Extremely disappointed with our stay at this house. The house needs to be thoroughly cleaned and it has cockroaches which I feel made it unsafe for all the children and babies who joined us on this trip. Unfortunately it ruined our family holiday as we spent more time trying to scrub and clean it to a standard where we felt comfortable sleeping and eating in it than actually enjoying a holiday together with family. We wont be coming back here.
Thanks for your review Jordan. While critters are common at this time of year, we pride ourselves on our properties being sparkling clean, and we're sorry your experience did not meet our usual high standards on this occasion. We hope to welcome you back sometime soon, to allow us the chance to do better for you in the future!

We went away with our family of 10 adults and 3 children, the space was perfect for our Christmas get-away. It was great having the lake in walking distance, the large dining/lounge and the covered deck. Note that one shower only has a curtain - no door.
HamishStayed November 2019
Awesome setting for a weekend break. The maze of rooms scattered throughout will keep the kids entertained for hours. Adults have plenty of play room upstairs with balcony and lounge spaces. Quite a bit of traffic noise from SH1, but counter that with a view of the river and the birds.
Hi Hamish, thank you for taking the time to review the property. We are glad you had a nice stay!
