“Hi there,What a beautiful property, we loved the deck, privacy, birdlife, trees and location.”

The house could do with a good clean! There were no instructions on how and when to dispose of rubbish and recycling, We arrived and everything was full and we had to dispose of other people's rubbish. Maybe time to change your cleaning company, add a dishwasher and we would definitely book again next year! Thanks so much for having us.

As a part of your cleaning fee, rubbish removal is included so that you shouldn't have to worry about it on departure. “Our family had a wonderful stay at this place.”

The deck was so spacious, so nice for family meal gatherings. During our stay weather was so humid and muggy unfortunately and we could not open the windows because of mozzies. Would be good to have some electric fans available on our next stay at this place.

“The house itself was lovely, clean & comfortable and would have had 5 stars if it weren't for the outside and what should/could have been a lovely native-planted garden giving views to the river.”

Instead, we see weeds galore, a Silver Fern growing where it'll eventually block some view, and a heap of ugly Yuccas - some also planted in a view-blocking place, but also close to the walkway where its spikes could "attack" people. The whole area surrounding the house was such a waste of potential. Even a no-to-low maintenance wild flower meadow for birds, bees, & butterflies, would be better than the mess that currently exists.

“The cottage was a delight and close to all amenities.”

We really enjoyed our weekend. Our only criticism is that the master ensuite extractor fan was not working which meant that the bathroom was dripping wet after showering and took hours to dry out.

Please note that the property has access to an unfenced stream. Adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.

Remember to bring your Nespresso capsules for your coffee hit in the morning, and the BBQ is a Weber!

Located just under an hours drive north of Auckland CBD, Matakana presents itself as the perfect day trip or weekend getaway. It's charming vineyards, quirky shops and art galleries, excellent restaurants like the Matakana Market Kitchen, and nearby beaches makes it a favourite amongst the whole family. Be sure to plan your trip to coincide with a Saturday morning so you can get amongst the world-famous-in-Auckland Matakana market. Head out to one of the nearby beaches such as Tawharanui National Park for some incredible views and great surf.
