Yes Outside Only
Pet Friendly Inside Welcome
Surrounded by native bush and enjoying its own access down to the golden sands of Woolley’s Bay, Kawa Cottage really is a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!
Nestled into the hillside overlooking the Bay, this fabulous weatherboard home has been renovated to a very high standard, introducing a host of contemporary creature comforts without sacrificing an ounce of character or charm. Floor-to-ceiling windows ensure you’ll always be able to appreciate the breath-taking beach view, while excellent flow allows a gentle breeze to filter through the property.
Outside, native birdsong acts as the soundtrack and stunning Pohutukawa trees frame the setting, with the sparkling waters of Woolley’s Bay providing the ultimate backdrop. There’s no need for a TV here as getting away from the hectic city life into nature is what it’s all about. Relax and unwind with a drink by the BBQ in the afternoon sun, go for a boogie board, or wander down the private steps towards the beach – there’s even a double kayak for those looking for more adventure!
Of course, the highlights aren’t just confined to Woolley’s Bay. The world-renowned Whale Bay – perfect for swimming, snorkelling and picnics – is just a short drive or comfortable walk away, while nearby Sandy Bay is regarded as one of the region’s best surf spots.
Whether you’re looking to explore nature’s playground, or simply sit back and recharge the batteries, Kawa Cottage truly is the ultimate destination!

Beautiful cottage, it’s truly a kiwi classic bach. My family and I had a great time. It was a great adventure going through the estuary as our way of getting to the beach.

Bach was great. In a beautiful spot overlooking the bay. Perfect for going to Whale Bay and Matapouri beach. Excellent facilities and friendly helpful neighbours. Would love to stay again.

Great views and lovely little bach

A stunning piece of paradise to enjoy and a well set up Bach to enjoy it from. Well kitted out kitchen and great beds. Cleanliness was an issue for us on arrival but hopefully this will be rectified for future renters. This is definitely a classic Kiwi Bach when it comes to the bathroom, so keep this is mind when booking. Access to the beach is down the steps and a walk around the estuary (you can't cut through it as it's deep and swampy) or a short stroll up the road. Enjoy this incredible part of the world.
Thank you for your review Sonya. It's great to hear you had a lovely time. We've added a note to the lisitng about the access to the beach and have addressed the cleanliness with our local team. We hope to see you again in the future!

Absolutely fabulous stay, you could never get bored of the view from the lounge and it was great to have access to the sea kayaks to adventure the coastline. Well equipped kitchen and great beds and bedding. It is however important to note that there is a significantly steep slope to the Bach from where you park the car. And although there is a small corner store 3/4 minutes drive away, the closest town to the Bach is 50 to 60 minutes drive away. All in all, a great week - thank you to our hosts.

The location is great but access is steep and not great for people with physical impairments. There is also no deck to sit on and enjoy the wonderful view. House is old and cute and comfortable though. Conserve water if you go in summer as it’s on tank water. Beach access by foot is from the bottom of the property across the paddock and along the road but an easy walk. Would go again.

Lovely wee bach in a great location. Very well kitted out and really comfy beds. The shower was the only disappointment but apart from this we had a lovely stay.
Thanks for your review Fiona. Thank you for your feedback! We're glad to hear you enjoyed Kawa Cottage and its location and will address your comments about the shower with the owner of the property. We hope to welcome you back sometime soon!
