Tucked inside the northern edge of Whangarei Harbour, you’ll find a small bay hidden along the north coast. Parua Bay is a small community located in Northland, New Zealand. The large town of Whangarei is 19 kilometres to its west, and Whangarei Heads lies just 10 kilometres southeast. Framing the entrance to the bay is Manganese Point to the west and Reserve Point to the east. A cove known as The Nook rests in the eastern shore of Parua Bay. To get a feel for the Parua Bay area by foot, the Motukiore Island walk will take you around the coast and across the causeway to the island. This walk is an ideal family outing, rated at a difficulty level of “easy”. It will take you around two and a half hours to complete. You will find the start of the track on Whangarei Heads Road just past the Pines Golf Course. The causeway to Motukiore Island is only walkable at low tide so plan accordingly. All of our Parua Bay accommodations are pre-inspected prior to your arrival and are ready for instant online booking.
