David “The home probably needs a dishwasher and small kindling or an axe as fire was difficult to get going.”
It was comfortable as a base near shops and our Kiwi family in Lake Hawea.

Shary “We lived there two nights.”
The house is clean, however wifi didn’t work at all. We contacted the service desk a few times but still not working. It’s very inconvenient for us as the mobile data was very weak in that location. No hot water for the first day. No hair dryer.
- Shary, December 2023Thank you for reviewing your recent stay, Shary. We apologise that there were issues with the WiFi and hot water while you were in stay. These have been resolved now and should not recur for future bookings. Bachcare
Alan “Oven is way past its use by date, Went to cook some roast vegetables, couldnt open the door, finally managed to get it open, and, it fell off its hinges, i fixed it, imagine that happened to an elderly person or a kid.”
... not a good look. WIFI - Run out, asked bach care to get it reinstated, didnt happen, i work from home, and while there had work to do, wasn't fun for the kids either.... the world we live in. Had Net flix for 4 days, then it too stopped working, unsure if this was inclusive, or, a former guest forgot to log out......... Net flix for Kids is a life saver Linnen, we extended or Stay, and got hit with another linen charge, however, we never got fresh linen........... not that we needed it, however, a bit rude to charge for sheets and pillowcases, seriously, who travels with that ?? Bins........ Locked, we had to put rubbish in a bag on the verandah..... i found a bin behind the house and put recyclables in it. House was cosy, well kept, and i would happily stay again and recommend to others, don't take the above as criticism, but chance to improve the stay for other guests less relaxed than Me.
- Alan, September 2022Hi Alan, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. WIFI was topped up continuously throughout the stay and apologies that the service provider was unable to assist us further. We are instating unlimited WIFI so this does not occur again. Thank you for highlighting the oven door, apologies. An brand new oven has been installed since your stay for guest to enjoy. At Bachcare guest health and safety is important and we do require linen to be changed every 7 days. Rubbish bags are provided and bags can be placed next to the rubbish bins for when we dispose of these. Overall we are glad you had a good stay. Thank you for staying and safe travels home. Bachcare
Charlotte “Lovely tranquil garden setting by stunning Lake Hawea.”
The house was nice and cosy and heated up quickly with the fire and/or heat pump. Great to have heaters in the bedrooms too. The issues with the wifi appear to have been resolved as we had strong and fast connections. We found the kitchen a little under-equipped for a larger group (we were 5 adults), it could do with more and larger pots and pans and it would have been nice to have matches/a lighter provided for the fire and for the wood to have been brought in. The beds are definitely doubles, not queens. The bach was very clean and tidy.
- Charlotte, August 2022Rebecca “Great location, perfect size for a family of four and plenty of room to park bikes etc.”
A few things to note however, as mentioned by another reviewer wifi is terrible, which didn’t bother us but could be a problem for some. Also beds seemed like they were doubles not queens?
- Rebecca, April 2022Joanne “A cute cottage in a good location.”
However, the advertised free wifi was unsatisfactory and the water pressure in the shower was very poor.
- Joanne, December 2021Jollene “Very lovely property suitable for a family.”
Walking distance to the beach, the pub and fish and chip shop. House was clean and tidy, had everything we needed. Beds were comfy. Would definitely go back.
