“We had a lovely family holiday at Lake Tarawera over Easter.”
The days were warm but the mornings and evenings a bit chilly, so the fire was very welcome to have. The house was very well appointed and there were plenty of activities on site for all to enjoy. As well as being close to the lake for walks around the edge and not too far from the mountain bike park. Would definitely recommend

Tami “This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Lake Tarawera Cottage.”
We were very dissappointed that since last year the hedge was over grown and you could no longer see the Lake unless you stood on the deck. The general outside of the property needs some attention and the deck desperately needs a good waterblast as does the drive and the general outside. the Bach itself is comfortable and great for families. the slide is over grown with weeds as well. The proximitey to the lake is great with a short walk. If the outside had a much needed tidy up and the hedge a good trim you would feel that the cost was worth it. The photos show a different story.

Diana “The property was sold as clean with a working oven and hot tub.”
The oven did not come up to temperature properly, the hot tub was empty, and the BBQ was filthy. The worst described and presented Bachcare property we have hired.

Major issues with the cleaning maintenance of the property. Beds etc were fine lovely and clean but things like Pizza oven was dirty hadn't been cleaned out, so we had to clean whole thing to actually use. Then we couldnt clean when we left as ash pile was full. Hardly any wood at all to even heat the house for the 3 days let alone use the pizza oven / hot tub etc so could not actually use facilities until that was dropped off. Gardens over grown, deck and front entry really slippery. The property needs a full outdoor clean and some of the broken furniture chucked Still waiting for a reply

A little bit disappointing with the lack of wood supplied for the number of utilities which needed to be heated this way. No kindling and very little paper provided. Also no lighter or matches that we could find, we had to drive back into Rotorua to buy one. Instructions on spa heating need updating, not able to locate the gas heater to heat this way and spa took several hours to heat with wood. However once heated was amazing! And maintained heat very well, even after a night of 1 degree low.

So many cool games and things to potter around doing including fuseball and airhockey, wood heated spa and pizza oven. Easy access to lake and hot pools on the other side are amazing (we got captain John to take us over on his catamaran-highly recommend!) Bach is clean but a bit run down compared to our last stay, needs some love in the gardens and decks, gas attachment for spa was missing, no shampoo provided. The lovely cleaner kindly posted back our forgotten item. Much cheaper booking on bachcare than through other websites

We had beautiful weather so the views from the bach are staggeringly beautiful. Great access to the lake from the roadway next door. Very peaceful and quiet and a lovely spot indeed. We had toasty evenings in front of the fire, and the pizza oven was a huge hit. It's a great location and a wonderful house.

Even with the bad weather we had still lots to do. Although we ended up not taking our dog because of bad weather it great that you can, because they are also an important family member to many. Last stayed there 15 years ago, but will not leave it so long next time.

Natalie “Perfect house for two families with the most AMAZING view of the lake and Mt Tarawera.”
View changes all day and never gets old! House is well set up with plenty to do and space for all. Fire place heats the whole house incredibly well - but you do need to be prepared to keep it going as there is no heat pump or other option if you donât feel up to the admin of a real fire. The pizza oven is awesome - we had the best home made pizzas! Hot tub is fun - but takes a bit of work to get going. We enjoyed the challenge but it wouldnât be for everyone. Highly recommend this house for a Lake Tarawera escape! We would love to come back! Property manage Joey was super nice too and very helpful and accomodating.

The house is spacious, the kitchen has everything you need, the slide, swing and ice hockey table were a big hit! Beautiful spot right on the lake. The first full day we were at the house the dishwasher broke, the oven stopped working properly and we discovered a mouse in the kitchen (which we saw regularly during the stay). We got hold of Joey the Bachcare manager who came around the next morning, even though he was not able to fix everything, we appreciated him coming to have a look at short notice. Joey was also extremely helpful at sending some things back to us that we left at the house.

Home was clean and comfortable. Views of the Lake were awesome. We booked in from the 24/12 to 29/12 so we had our Christmas Lunch at the home and managed to cook our Pork and Mutton perfectly in the Pizza Oven, Ham was cooking in the Kitchen Oven, needless to say we had a beautiful Christmas Feast. We were a group of 15 Family members so we had booked another house on Spencer Road to accommodate us all but this home was perfect as a base for us to all gather for our Christmas Dinner and for all our other meals we shared. Pizza night was a big hit with our boys and grand children, they certainly had mastered pizza oven cooking. It was also great that we could have our 2 dogs with us the whole time. Joey you made sure we had everything at the property as promised and also made sure we knew you were contactable at any time if we required anything else, you even managed to slip in without us noticing to drop off some brand new table tennis bats. I hope you enjoyed the bottle of Jamiesons and Chocolates we left for you and your team. We would not hesitate again to book this property. Several of the things listed were not provided - we could only find one gas bottle for both the hot tub and the barbecue, and it was almost empty, so we couldn't use either of them. There was a table tennis table, but only three badly damaged paddles and a single ball. There was a fireplace and wood, but no newspaper, firestarters or even matches. The house strongly recommended we use their breadmaker and pizza oven to make our own pizzas - but the breadmaker was nowhere to be found, and no firemaking supplies. The garage/games area felt cramped and dirty, and could use some tidying up. We had a generally negative experience with Bachcare - we were forced to make this booking in order to be partially refunded for a previous booking made earlier in the year, which we were unable to travel to due to the COVID lockdown. The house itself was nice, but the poor maintenance, cleanliness and the numerous missing amenities made for a disappointing holiday.

We have passed along your feedback about the ping pong paddles and while there were more in a draw the owner will be replacing those that arenât in great shape.
