Yes Outside Only
Amazing is also often the word used to describe this unexpected piece of paradise.
Driving from Okete Road on a metal road, you will be welcomed by native bush, hear the tui's greet you with their song and fantails darting around you.
Sheltered on a private farm, a farm that has links to the original Raglan settlers, this stunning property which has sweeping views of the harbour and surrounding rolling hills will let you unwind and relax in this traditional Kiwiana Bach.
Your own personal jetty at the back door whether to jet ski or have use of the owner's Kayak to explore the surrounding area. Kayak up the estuary to see the mesmerising Okete waterfall.
Flounder is in abundance which you could catch and cook on the same day or try your hand at whitebaiting in season or fishing directly off the wharf.
Sit on the deck at night with your favourite glass of wine and take in the wonders of the night sky. No light-pollution, allowing you to watch shooting stars and satellites orbit above you.
This Bach offers an open plan kitchen, stone bench tops alongside an original coal range. The dining and lounge area leads from here on to the deck with expansive water views which roll in on three sides of the Bach. Two bedrooms, with comfortable mattresses with sink in toppers, will allow you to have the relaxation you deserve. Laundry facilities are available.
Although the Bach is two storeys and access is via stairs the self-contained lower level still has original dirt floor so not quite the specs guests are looking for these days so no one stays here but people still have fond memories of staying under the bach in a bygone era and have visited to be reminded of their stays here.
Beautiful coastal walks or adventures along the beach front and lovely safe swimming at your doorstep or endless fun jumping or fishing from the wharf.
The Bach is steeped in memories and fun times. Whether it is a romantic getaway or an action-packed family holiday there is something here for everyone. Create your own history in this adventure playground.

A great place to unwind away from screens and busy lives. Basic and beautiful we will be back. Access to another kayak would have been really good.

A piece of paradise. The place is magic. Not a new or fancy house, but it provides you with the experience of leaving in a farm house with the beach at your doorstep, which is great. Fantastic view especially in hight tide and a great place for someone who seeks a quiet place to relax.

This bach is truly a hidden gem. Located at the end of a farm track, with uninterupted panoramic water views, it's a magical location. We are able to launch our jetski straight off the beach in front of the house at high tide. The weather was mixed - sunny for 2 days, then wet and wild for a day. The 2 heaters kept us toasty warm and there was an electric blanket in the main bedroom for extra chilly nights but we didnt need to use it. We took a DVD player and HDMI cable to attach to the tv and we were able to watch our DVDs. At low tide you can enjoy a good long walk along the shoreline and the views are spectacular whether the tide is in or out. It takes just 10 minutes to drive to town. Our property manager was so kind, friendly and helpful. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place!

The property is definitely old and run down. Does not look at all like the photos. This property advertises two kayaks. This is not the case. There is only one kids surf ski. The access is not great. A little hard to find. And a decent drive into the town of raglan. Overpriced for what it is. Would not recommend to anyone. Was very disappointed.
Thank you for your review Nikki! We're sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with this property as we do try to convey its quirky style on the listing, through the photos, the description, the rates and previous guest reviews. We do the same with the location and the amenities, clarifying, for example, that there is only one kayak and a canoe available for guest use. We are however working with the property owners on the aspects that can be improved upon, so that we can offer a better guest experience at this Kiwiana Bach.

Remote, rural and relaxing...ah-rrr!!!! A cute, traditional old style, quirky bach in a stunning location. When the tide is up, access to the water is possible and a kayak trip up to the waterfalls offers an easy yet peaceful way to see the surroundings. At low tide, endless birdlife adorns the mudflats and you get to watch all the action amidst the unspoilt backdrop of hills and waterside. It may be out of the way but a quick trip to town and the beach gives you the other side of Raglan to revel in.

We really had a wonderful time. We were there to relax and this is the best place to relax. Everything was just perfect. Definitely coming back with rest of the family.

A stunning location, private and right on the water’s edge. Bach is old, quirky, nothing fancy, but has good beds, pillows, kitchen and shower and is spotlessly clean, and those are the main things! Great communication from Bachcare- thanks Cameron.

This is a very rustic property. Neither TV or radio worked even though it’s in the property description so we were forced to relax without distractions which was actually really nice. Excellent cell reception. Better than at home! Not the cleanest inside with dead flies along the windowsills and a good tidy up around the outside would be a good idea. Not great to see piles of discarded fencing wire and old garden furniture among knee high weeds when we drove in. If you’re lucky with tides you’ll get a view like the pictures. If not it’s basically just mudflats. Waterfront yes, if the tides are right. Definitely not oceanfront. We had a very relaxing weekend, but a little disappointed that the description on the listing didn’t match the experience.

The property itself was amazing, right on the water. Lovely comfortable beds, nice kitchen and good shower. We were 15 minutes out of Raglan and it was just so peaceful.

A wee old fashioned style family bach with the modern cons you need to relax away from the hustle and bustle of a town or city ...down off the main road on a private metal road with private water access ... brilliant place to just sit and watch the bird life.

We had a good stay at this lil hidden gem. The location was absolutely stunning. The place had its own vintage look and feel. Was a nice weekend getaway with the kids.

A quintessential kiwi Bach 10 minutes from Raglan but away from the noise and crowds. Old, but well looked after with comfortable furniture and a modern kitchen. Amazing 180 degree views of the water and birdlife, and a beach and jetty for playing around. An amazing spot for a quiet weekend with friends and family.
