John “Wonderful views and great location!”
Well equipped bach though facilities a little on the tired side compared to some alternatives at the same price. Only disappointment was the non-working heat pump which we reported to Bachcare but no action was taken to repair it or keep us informed as promised. Not a major issue but you do expect to enjoy facilities that you've paid for!

Moran “This is a lovely little cottage in what must be the very best location in Akaroa.”
It's very private, surprisingly quiet with great sun & views. It has a funky 60's/70's vibe with matching aged/tired decor, though the oven & cooktop are in amazing almost as new condition. However it's clear that little maintenance has been carried out for many years and with the high rental cost the owners really should match that with a little refresh & maintenance. Here were my observations; The house was "basically" clean but in need of a proper clean. There was a dirty stained teatowel in bottom of washing machine (tried washing it but very stained, looks like someone tried cleaning the bbq with it) Ants became a problem by the third day, attracted to the small kitchen rubbish bin (perhaps provide an outdoor bin?) Smoke alarm battery was flat. Double doors to outdoor seating area are binding and difficult to open. Theres is no working kitchen sink drain plug Great to have use of a washine machine but there's no line/drying rack. The one bed made up with linen for me was the smaller and most uncomfortable of the two on offer. Furniture cushions were dusty & dirty. Ironing board cover is ripped. All of the available furniture is very old cane conservatory style and not overly comfortable , also there is too much furniture inside for a house than can accommodate a max of 4 adults. Outdoor table & chairs in poor condition. The bbq is missing one hinge pin making it difficult to open and a bbq cleaning brush would be a welcome addition. The toilet runs constantly and noticeable when trying to sleep in the adjacent bedroom. Unplugged internet router on arrival (as was tv&dish box) so maybe include directions in the house instructions. Overall the house is quaint but dated and in need of maintenance / modernising with the beds being in need of updating especially for the rental price.

- Kate, January 2021Kevin “Best view and position in Akaroa.”
So relaxing listening to the water lapping on the rocks and taking in the unobstructed view of the yatch harbour and lighthouse from both inside and out. Beautiful sunset view and don't forget those stars that light up next Made regular use of BBQ. All round a great relaxing long weekend. The cottage overall is perhaps a little tired. Had a few minor tweaks to do in fuse box to get everything working but who cares. The all glass design and total privacy are 10 out of 10. We loved it
- Kevin, October 2020Jeremy “Nice quiet spot with good views but could do with some updates”
- Jeremy, July 2020KJ “Wonderful location and beautiful home.”
We loved it. Friendly and helpful owners nearby and Bachcare support was just right. We were very comfortable but it might be helpful to note for some the toilet entry is tight if you are large or of limited mobility and a new mattress in the main room would be a lovely upgrade.
- KJ, May 2020Jim “Lovely house right near the water with a great view.”
Only 5 minutes walk to the main wharf.
- Jim, February 2020Christine “We think we have found the most beautiful place to stay in Akaroa .”
Small and perfectly formed ,this is a beautifully designed home with fabulous views to the harbour and hills .The fittings reflect the age of the property but everything works well .Has easy access to walks and town .It's not super easy to find the property but that adds to the privacy and tranquility .
