Chand “Dear Team, Thank you for allowing us to stay at your batch in Napier.”
The place is amazing and served 7 adults quite well. Our only feedback for improvement is to get some proper beds in some of the spare rooms. These rooms the mattresses are long due to be replaced - even with budget memory foams if required. Something so small can change the trip comfort levels by having a good night sleep. Otherwise what a great place and location. Thank you
- Chand, February 2023We appreciate you taking the time to provide this feedback and are delighted you enjoyed your stay at this fabulous property in this great location. We will share your suggestions for upgrading the beds with the owners. Bachcare
Des “Third time to stay and it gets better and better.”
Only things missing are clothes pegs and a laundry basket for carrying washing to the line. Addition of sheets and towels was a real bonus this year. Will be back next year all being well. Gardens well kept and love the free books. Neighbours really lovely too. Highly recommend this property and location
- Des, January 2023RUTH “The lock on the gate entrance was not able to be locked so that anyone could enter and break into the glass doors it didnt feel safe or secure at night or if leaving the house to go out.”
It would also be handy if a Hair Dryer was provided to use. Sorry I would not recommend this House as it was too noisy it wasnt the trains or alarms that bothered me it was the constant passing of trucks rumbling past or vibrations felt through the House. The Beds/Lounge chairs were also uncomfortable However the Gas Hob / Oven and Kitchen were well equipped
- RUTH, December 2022Thank you for your feedback. This property is located outside a busy port however the calming sea views are a big reward. Bachcare
Carolyn “A perfect location for our stay in Napier … the home ticked all the boxes for us, with plenty of space.”
The noise from the port was only noticed on the first night. Otherwise a very enjoyable stay!
- Carolyn, October 2022Matthew “The house was well stocked with everything we needed, great location (close to the beach, playgrounds and town centre) and perfect size for our two families.”
We enjoyed our stay a lot. The proximity to the busy road and Port was not a bother for us as the trains only seemed to run during the week. It might bother you if you are a light sleeper. The free books outside were a bonus and kept the kids entertained hunting for new books each day. The only complaint we had is that we could not get the heater in the lounge to work and the heat pumps in the bedrooms took us some time to work out (we needed to set the time on the remote to make it work). Otherwise a very enjoyable stay.
- Matthew, October 2022David “We have already spoken to your Batchcare agent and put feed back in the visitors book on site.”
- David, September 2022Rod “Really lovely house.”
Position is a little noisy because of the busy road, railway line and port, but this was made clear in the description and we were fine with it. We found the heat pumps difficult to operate.
- Rod, July 2022Elizabeth “Very nice warm house but unfortunately rather noisy due to the proximity to the port and railway line.”
- Elizabeth, July 2022Tasha “Great location, lovely to look out to a beautiful view from a very clean and well presented accommodation which made our stay enjoyable and comfortable.”
Would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone,
- Tasha, May 2022Janine “A beautiful spot to stay - views are amazing with a real Bach by the sea feel.”
- Janine, March 2022Shalom “Pros: The house is quite spacious and is fitted out with a great stove and all the kitchenware required for cooking your own meals.”
The garden was well kept, with some beautiful flowers to add some color. It was a bit chilly when we stayed, but in warmer weather we would've enjoyed sitting and having our meals on the outdoor table. The location is close to downtown and has a beautiful view of the water from the living room, front patio and master bedroom. Cons: The house is situated right next to the train tracks. If you're a heavy sleeper, this may not be a problem, but I wouldn't recommend it for light sleepers as the noise of the warning bells and the train rumbling down the tracks is quite loud in the early morning hours. The hallway floor is also noisy which makes it difficult to tiptoe quietly so as to not wake others who are sleeping. We had 2 maintenance issues. I noticed another person also complained of maintenance issues. I'm not sure if they were taken care of and we had separate ones, or if they are ongoing, but at any rate, I would expect better from a Bachcare rental.
- Shalom, October 2021Brian and Joy “Lovely clean spacious home.”
Great views out to the ocean. Easy walking access to ahirirri village shops and cafes. Great kitchen with all modern cons.
- Brian and Joy, April 2021Roberta “Great spacious house , comfortable beds , hot shower , amazing sea views , we loved our stay thanks , would rent again”
- Roberta, February 2021Des “I would be too ashamed to put a review of what I encountered and add my name to it, given the price we paid.”
Head office have asked for photos which I will forward and also accompany it with an email. I hope to have the matter fully dealt with and receive a partial refund
- Des, January 2021Lee “A large house with great airflow on hot days and convenient to the beach.”
Lots of boats, trucks and trains to watch and comfortable beds, with a quiet eating space outdoors. House managers were organised and quick to respond.
- Lee, January 2021Mahesh “Pros - Great location, close to amenities, great outdoor space - amazing views ...”
Pros - Great location, close to amenities, great outdoor space - amazing views from lounge and master bed Cons - Interior is dated, squeaky floors, aged carpet, squeaky bed in one of the room, maintenance issues needing attention (loose screw for the backdoor handle, loud banging noise from how water cylinder, could be noisy at times
- Mahesh, December 2020Thank you for your feedback Mahesh. It's great that you enjoyed the location and views. We have passed along your suggestions to the owner of the property and hope to welcome you back again to Breakwater Cottage in the future. Bachcare

Warm cosy and very comfy beds. Look forward to staying at again.
- Jill, July 2020Shannon “We had a lovely stay at this bach as it was very handy to everything.”
A heads up though can be very noisy with many trucks & trains entering and exiting the port. This did slow down later on in the weekend.
- Shannon, February 2020Werner “Enjoyed our stay and is nice and central.”
- Werner, December 2019Anton “Convenient.”
Clean. Good kitchen setup. Private back garden. Great for watching orca from the lounge window. ☺
