Mark “The house was fantastic.”
We had plenty of room and close to the lake. Plenty of wood for the fire, which we needed being close to winter. The facilities were great and the house was very clean. Will definitely book again when we travel over from Melbourne.

Wayne “We had a really lovely weekend in the Lakeside Hideaway.”
There was lots of room and the kids found plenty of activities. The swimming was close and safe. It worked brilliantly for us.
- Wayne, February 2023Kelly “We were really looking forward to our holiday, we have used Bookabach and Airbnb many times so our expectations are realistic.”
When we arrived the house looked great from outside, very close to the lake. When we entered the property there was a musty/damp smell. We opened the fridge to put our shopping away and it was dirty- the freezer even worse. The bathrooms looked clean but the showers were not - pubic hair stuck on some tiles! The biggest issue was the hot water, we tried to have a shower on the first night and the water was freezing cold. Again on the second and third days (we think the water is solar panels and it was raining). The water pressure is absolutely useless, 3 females with long hair and cold water and no pressure was hideous. The most worry thing is all of the metal security guards at the windows and doors at the back of the property. There are no keys in them which is a massive fire hazard and we were worried about with 5 children. We hope the multitude of security cameras were turned off during our stay else it is an evasion of our privacy. The countless notes around the property asking to âconserve powerâ use this do that seemed more like a military camp than paid for holiday accommodation. It is unnecessary we are adults and always treat a holiday home as if it was our own. Perhaps the home owners could focus on fixing the leaks and attending to the moss and lichen growing at the back of the property. I would also recommend an outside table and chairs to eat at - It was very hot inside and no air con it seemed very dismal and not the holiday we were hoping for.
- Kelly, January 2023Thanks for taking the time to review your stay. It is disappointing to hear of your frustrations whilst in-stay, however you will be pleased to know we are addressing these issues now. The geothermal activity in the area can often give the surrounding properties a slight aroma which of course is unique to this area. The notes around the house simply remind guests that the property is on a septic tank system. Thanks for your helpful feedback about the outdoor furniture, this is in the pipeline! Bachcare
Rebecca “The house was nice and big albeit a bit dark.”
The lake was close but with kids we had to cross a busy road to get there which made it tricky to use. You have to go in the car to get anywhere. The facilities were great and the rooms were nice. Maybe better for mostly adult groups.
- Rebecca, December 2022We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed the fantastic facilities and the lovely rooms on offer at Lakeside Hideaway. Thanks for submitting your feedback and we welcome you again soon! Bachcare
Lea “There were a few leaks from the roof but Bachcare already emailed us about that.”
It would have been great to have a welcoming sheet explaining general information about the house. There was one posted in the fridge but the information was not current as it said we needed to remove our rubbish and recycling or we would be charged and also that we would be charged if we went over internet usage which was not stated anywhere on Bachcare that I saw. Also it said to clean the fireplaces out but then there was a tiny note inside the closet that said to leave the ashes and cleaners would get them. It would have been nice for the hot water cylinders to have been switched on before we arrived. So overall, a good stay and the house is great for large family gatherings. We wish that there had been a gas range as we love to cook and electric hobs just don't cut it but that is very much just our opinion. Im sure a lot of people love electric stoves. Loved all the games and cooking magazines! Also the 2 fireplaces were great! The furniture and beds were all in great condition and very comfy. Thanks for a fun stay!
- Lea, July 2022Robert “Very spacious home with loads of room!”
- Robert, January 2022Robyn “A hidden gem, don't let the lack of lake views put you off renting this property.”
Whoever designed and built this home thought of everything. The property can easily accomodate 12 with room left to live in. This is not the typical lakeside bach where you live on top of each other for a week in a constant state of chaos. This is a substantial home where several generations can coexist in comfort. Where most properties look bigger in the photos than reality this property is the opposite, its proportions are generous and the home is well appointed. We will return and we will recommend this property to our friends and family.
