    “The property is very convenient and in a nice, quiet location handy to Matakana and other facilities and has a great TV.”

    But the house was not smelling very clean when we arrived with a very strong fish smell coming from the fridge. There was no adequate heating in the house with only a closed fireplace, limited kindling, no matches anywhere and no other heating at all. So it was very difficult to get or keep warm, especially first thing in the morning. So these inconveniences really spoiled what otherwise could have been a pleasant stay. I do not recommend this house coming into the colder time of the year unless ...

About the location

Just an 8-minute drive from Matakana is the long stretch of a white sandy surf beach that is Omaha. This is a great area to base yourself from, located within a short drive to all the gems of the area such as Snells beach, Sandspit, Campbell's Beach and Tawharanui National Park. The best place to be in Omaha is certainly beachside, watching surfers battle the waves or taking a dip in one of the calmer areas yourself.
