Ranelle “My husband and I booked for the weekend for our wedding anniversary.”
We just wanted someone secluded and quiet away from the busy noise of town. The property was great, nice updated bach and had everything we needed. But i was unaware of the extra costs for the cleaning and linen. It ended up being around an extra $300 for both which for a 2 night stay in a bach we could of stayed at a fancy motel for that and done nothing. Im not sure what the cleaner would clean as we left it exactly the way it was when we got there did all our dishes like it says too and stripped the beds, it didnt need a vacum and we cleaned after we cooked so im not sure what $159 cleaner can do extra. And an extra $100 for a couple of towels, face cloths and sheets i would rather just of bought my own. I could of bought a whole new set from the shop actually. So i reccomend that this price be included from the beginning and stated clearly or to be able to have that option of saying yes or no. I also rung bachcare numerous times to say i was unhappy with the extra costs and both times i was told i would be contacted via a phone call for an update but recieved nothing. So overall happy with the house and area, but the extras costs are ridiculous and way overpriced.

- Gabriel, October 2021Andrea “We loved our stay here.”
The house had everything we needed for our family - was cosy on the cooler evenings and mornings with the logburner, and the balcony was lovely during the sunny afternoons. We stayed three nights and didn't want to leave. Will definitely be back to stay again!

- Gina, April 2021Steve “Finding somewhere close to ChCh at Christmas time and at short notice and being able to take our black lab to was a tall order.”
Fortunately for us, Seascape Retreat at Goose Bay was available and fitted the bill perfectly. From its elevated position the decks remained bathed in sunlight until 19:15 - not the first two days we were there though as rain covered much of the SI. We didn't care, cranked up the log burner, did jig-saw puzzles, read, ate / drank and relaxed. Under 20 mins to Kaikoura so very easy to get a fish'n'chip fix, walk the Peninsula track, etc. Bach facilities are excellent. Gas hot water (great shower) and hob, BBQ, WiFi, DVD's, books. Definitely would stay again.

Kaikoura is watched over by the majestic mountain ranges that stretch down towards the rugged east coast of the South Island. Kaikoura is most well known for its whale watching opportunities, which attract visitors from across the world. Tours depart Kaikoura to allow visitors the chance to catch glimpses of giant sperm whales, dolphins, fur seals, and the rare royal albatrosses. For those who are more adventurous, there are chances to don a wetsuit and swim with many of the wonderful creatures found on the Kaikoura Coastline. The annual Seafest, held the first weekend in October, is becoming increasingly popular, and attracts more visitors every year. For history buffs, Kaikoura offers the chance to learn about the early whaling and sealing days of the district, as well as Maori History, and a number of historic buildings. There are also a number of walks to explore, one which takes visitors past some spectacular limestone caves, and seal colonies.
