Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. We’ll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.
The property
Just steps from the lakefront and with views to take your breath away, this four-bedroom Kuratau bach is an ideal spot for two families to come together on a Lake Taupo getaway. Welcome to Lakefront Lodge! The simple and cosy open-plan living space here at Lakefront Lodge seamlessly transitions onto a generous sized entertaining deck, offering you plenty of options to relax and enjoy lakeside living. This is the place for enjoying the sun, watching the kids as they play on the lawn below, or entertaining family and friends with a relaxed BBQ meal. There's an outdoor table and seating for 12 people! Furnished with your comfort in mind, this bach is drenched in sunlight right up to its vaulted ceilings thanks to large sliding glass doors and large picture windows. On a hot summer day, open everything up to let the cool lake breeze flow through, or nestle into a bean bag on the deck and soak up the sunshine. A cosy wood-burning fireplace keeps you toasty warm in the winter, and offers a great centrepiece to gather around for a good chat, or perhaps a family challenge of your favourite board game! A basic Sky TV package is on offer if you feel like a bit of light-hearted, effortless entertainment. Lakefront Lodge offers a well-equipped kitchen with plenty of storage to bring all your favourite holiday treats from home. There's even an additional fridge in the hallway, ideal for ensuring there's always a cold drink available. Spread across three levels, this lakefront bach has four bedrooms with bedding configurations to suit any group. The main bathroom offers a shower-over-bath to cater for all ages, and the master bedroom has an additional ensuite toilet for added convenience. The private, gated front lawn here at Lakefront Lodge gives direct access to the lakefront reserve. You can enjoy swimming, kayaking, boating and fishing right on your doorstep! It's also just a 100m walk to the tennis courts and nearby lakeside walking tracks. The local store and the coffee shop are a short five-minute drive away. For day trips, you are less than an hour from Taupo town centre, just over an hour from Ohakune, and 45 minutes to the Whakapapa Ski Resort. Settle in for a getaway just steps from the water - Lakefront Lodge awaits!
As the property has direct access to the lake, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.
As the deck barrier is below 1 metre high, all guests should take care in this area due to the risk of falls.

About the location
On the opposite side of the lake to Taupo, Kuratau is a small peaceful town with plenty of outdoor activities on offer. Spend the day out on the water with kayaks, boats and water skis, or go fly fishing for rainbow trout in the Tongariro River. Being further away from the bustle of Taupo, it's also an ideal location for a relaxing holiday to get away from it all. “The views are spectacular.”
The beds comfy. That’s where the good ends. For the huge price of this property, I really expected so much more - rustic but well provisioned. That was not the case. The owners need to take a little care to fix things or rent it for much less. We felt totally taken advantage of. Couches are filthy. There is no aircon which is fine. But no screens! We couldn’t open the doors or windows as there were so many bugs. We got to the house late and it was full of bugs and we suffered so many bites ...

The internet password was incorrectly written down. It took 3 days for us to get a response and finally connect. For international travels this is huge. The upstairs toilet runs. You don’t mention in the property details that the 4th bedroom is only accessible via outside steps. This is really not convenient and would have impacted our decision to rent the place. There is no dishwasher which is fine. But the sponges and wash cloths provided were filthy. We had to buy new ones to clean the dishes before we could use them as they were also filthy and had food stuck to the plates. Taupo is beautiful, the lake and location glorious, the locals are the best. This house is anything but the best. I hope to be back but won’t stay here again and will try to avoid Bachcare too.
