“The house was excellent—very well-equipped, spotless, and in a great location.”
Everything was comfortable, except for the mattress in the second double bedroom, which sagged in the middle and was quite uncomfortable. But overall, and in all the details was great.

Chantelle “Having stayed here two years ago, I was surprised to see that the loud squeaky exterior doors and loose bathroom door handles were still there.”
Also disappointing not having any music set up, not sure if it was broken or just old and out of date but we couldn't have any music on at all. Great that the TV has been replaced with a smart tv that we can log into Netflix with! Makes those rainy days with the little ones so much easier. The gas cooktop knobs don't close properly so you can smell gas. The bathrooms aren't very clean, especially the tiles, as well as under the tables and couches (dead roaches and other things, a hairbrush). And I was surprised to see that there is no maintenance to the gardens, lots of dead leaves every where, building up in the garden and outdoor seating area. The second bathroom also has hot water issues, it will go hot and very cold constantly, even if the shower is only two minutes. Whereas the ensuite shower has no issues. The lockbox also wouldn't unlock and I think the numbers weren't engaging properly. I feel bad for the owners who pay for the services and it's not being done. Pans could do with some replacing. And with linen, it would be good to have face cloths for the little ones. Comfortable beds though, generally well equipped (except for lack of sugar and salt). And the place is big enough to accommodate two families.
- Chantelle, February 2024Thank you for your review, Chantelle - We appreciate your feedback. Sometimes when the sun is beating down on the doors, they can squeak a bit when opening. As with the bathroom door handle, the property owners have looked into the issue which has now been resolved. As for music/sound system, this is not mentioned on the listing so guests should bring their own source of music if they wish to have this during their stay, however music can be played through the Smart TV as well. With regards to gas stove top, this was replaced last year so still relatively new. I will check with our local services team to see if there are instructions available for guests to refer to. Cooks Beach is renowned for cockroaches, especially over the warmer months so you may see the occasional one from time to time. The property does have a maintenance person who does the lawns and gardens on a regular basis, however depending on the time of year and as we are coming into Autumn there may be more leaves falling than usual. We haven't had any other reported access issues for the lockbox but will keep an eye on this. For the hot water, if someone does run a tap or use the water at the same time it can affect the pressure and hot water if someone is shower. Bachcare

The layout is great - spacious and inviting. Comfortable beds and the house location away from the main areas was nice but yet still very handy to everything. As a side note to Batchcare It would be good to know that the property is fitted with up to date smoke alarms - I do not think that is included on the list provided? Also a minor thing, however as a suggestion when the cleaners go through if they could check the remotes as the batteries were flat in the heater remote so it did not work, until we figured that out and managed to luckily find a couple of batteries that fitted it. (minor issue). Would definitely recommend this wonderful home and will come back. The other most important thing for us also was that we could take our Fur Child :)

Great room planning -all bedrooms are located away from the lounge,so kids were not that noisy in the mornings. There are plenty of board games and activities for kids and adults. We truly enjoyed our stay in this house and will be back again for sure! the only downside note for the owner - the cooktop knobs need replacement as most of them are broken inside and do not close the gas supply properly, not safe at all.

Being dog friendly made all the difference as my best bud could come along on our holiday. Heaps of space and awesome sized rooms. The outside area is perfect for outside dining and catching some rays. Fantastic sound system and overall a great place to unwind. The kitchen has everything you would need! Close enough to the beach and town, would highly recommend and would definitely come back (didn’t want to leave!) Thanks for a fabulous stay!

The facilities are good. It is well equipped and has TV and Wifi. We would stay at the property again. The water is tank water and fed to the house by a pump. This broke down one night and we went more than 12 hours without drinking water and flushing toilets. We tried the Bachcare emergency number repeatedly overnight and in the morning which was not answered. It was only ingenuity on our behalf that we reset the pump and finally had water. Instructions on restarting the pump need to be left at the dwelling for guests. Bachcare also needs to smarten up its after hours service.

We discovered ants in the cupboard from icing sugar in an insecure container - quickly threw out and washed the container. Improvements to consider either a DVD player and a smart tv, however, this did not detract from our stay. We brought outdoor sport equipment and would have been good to store this in the garage, however, did not have access. Would recommend and look forward to returning.

Loved the open plan indoors and lots of outdoor space. Very handy cutleries and cookware variety available for use. It's 35min drive away from township, so plan meals accordingly. TV was old, No WIFI available, some pantry items were old and expired, sugar container, had ants. We did see some spiders around the corners inside the rooms and hallway, needs a good dusting!

There was no way to connect your laptop or device (no smart tv) for Netflix but this is minor, there's enough here for entertaining the kids. Kind of nice not having WiFi. We enjoyed ourselves so thank you!

The lounge/dining/kitchen area is delightfully designed to maximise social relaxation. The weather wasn’t great (cloudy or drizzly most of the days) so we were really glad we’d chosen a modern ‘home away from home’. Quiet and convenient location. We enjoyed our walks to different local spots and short trips elsewhere.

The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need. The games cupboard has a great selection of board games & fun activities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and really appreciated being able to bring our small dog. Quiet location, within an easy walk to the beach and local shops. Highly recommend!

When it cooled down the fire place created a nice comfortable warm environment inside. Great showers and awesome kitchen with lots to do inside even when the weather wasn't great.

Excellent location for families or groups to enjoy the plethora of coastline activities. Its only minutes away to the ferry landing, catch the ferry to Whitanga & walk 10 minutes to Lost Springs. It's modern, spacious and luxurious. The location is a little bit further away from the shops and the sea but it is a nice leisurely walk of about 7 min. It's secluded with trees and bushes around an immaculate lawn so you won't see the neighbouring houses. The property has everything you need: BBQ, Soundsystem, TV, Washing Machine etc. We've booked cleaning and bed linen/towels to make our time more relaxing. I shouldn't really recommend this property because it won't be easily available anymore when we want to come back in future. I think it is one of the nicest properties in Cook's Beach.
