“This is our third stay at the Golden Hideaway.”
The house, size of the section and proximity to the beach works really well for our family. This time is was disappointing that the cleanliness was not up to scratch on arrival. For example, the toilet seats had not been lifted to be cleaned under, and the WeberQ had not been cleaned for some time as the burners were partially clogged. We cleaned these ourselves but it was disappointing given that last summer the cleanliness was excellent. All in all, we had a great holiday, fantastic weather ...

Great position comfy beds. But no instruction on tv use. No numbers on the stove all the symbols were When it said bring your own linen we expected there to be tea towels and hand towels in the bathroom and just basic things like shower hell and hand soap for the price of it we were a bit taken aback and we had to go and buy handrowels soap shower soap and teatowels no numbers or symbols on the oven I saw this has been commented on before its an easy fix and avoids a lit of frustration

You will be pleased to know that we are currently addressing these issues with the local property manager and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Shower gel is not an item that is offered, although hand soap should have been provided. It is also handy to note that when you choose to bring your own linen - this does mean all linen, including tea towels. The linen service fee covers the laundering of these items so it would not be feasible to only launder teatowels when a guest chooses not to include the linen package. Damage to carpet in one bedroom. Holes in the walls of two rooms. Bathroom fan in one bathroom has a big hole and in the other is leaking. Strong mildew smell in twin bedroom beside bathroom and in kitchen cupboards. Lots of dust, black mold in the bathrooms. Down the back of the beds was a used ear plug, chaptick, tissues, pillow case and bottle cap. Linen wasn't sorted so we had to call to get it dropped off and then sort ourselves. Not enough toilet paper or hand soap to last the weekend.

A few things need a bit of maintance and bird poo outside could have been cleaned but otherwise great comfortable place with loads of extras. Thank you

apart from that we had a great stay and really enjoyed the property and its great loaction. We would stag again.

It was nice to see some improvements from our last visit in Dec 2020 - new toilets, Weber bbq, heat pump and WiFi. Itâs a great spot for our 2 families to have a summer holiday - lots of space to play games outside, across the road from the beach access and around the corner from the golf club for a coffee or a meal.

Wonderful new BBQ too and the appliances, cooking equipment and crockery plentiful and in great condition, its not very often you have a frying pan that you can actually use :-) Just a couple of minor things: No pillow protectors on the pillows, we supplied our own pillows so not an issue. Toilet in bathroom with the bath had a major crack / damage on the inside resulting in a hairline crack on the outside of the toilet. No leakage thank goodness. Toilet cisterns in both bathrooms seem a little slow and noisy with a weak flush, but again not a major issue but could be worth a look by a plumber. Overall, fabulous :-)

However was dirty when we took occupancy. No notification that fridge/freezer did not work and we were met with a mouldy smelly fridge. Other things in the house were mouldy, windows & curtains. One bathroom had not been cleaned properly & other toilet would not flush. Outside area was dirty, bird poo all over patio and furniture and barbique unusable. Very disappointing.

My brother and I stayed here with our families and there was plenty of room for the 7 of us. So close to the beach for the kids and a large section for the little one to ride his bike. The pine trees reminded us of our parents place in the late 1980s when pines were prevalent throughout Matarangi. We had a wonderful holiday and look forward to coming back again.

The fireplace is great and there are a few puzzles and games. The kitchen is very well equipped and a shed with tennis rackets and bikes a great addition. The location is awesome with a quick walk to the beach through the access path across the road plus a tennis court with private key virtually next door. A downside is no Wi-Fi plus the cleanliness was greatly lacking on this visit (we have stayed once before without this issue)

The property doesn't have WiFi, as some guests like to get away from it all, so we try and offer properties to satisfy all desires. However you can always use the 'WiFi' filter whens searching if you need to stay connected on your next trip. Felicity “Private and sheltered, yet so close to the beach.”
Safe for our little people to tear around and plenty of room for the adults to relax. We were there on the hottest days of the year but the design of the house and the trees on the property meant we were still lovely and cool all day.

Very close to the beach and with access to exclusive tennis court. The best equipped Bach I think we've ever stayed in - each time we thought of something we might need in the kitchen, opened a drawer or cupboard and there it was. Bikes, tennis rackets etc etc. Great games and puzzles (with all their pieces), super comfy rooms and 2 high pressure showers plus a bath. Highly recommend.

Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. Weâll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.
The property
Tucked away beneath the pine trees and less than 100m from the beach - Welcome to The Golden Hideaway! This holiday home is on a half-acre of land in the spacious âPinesâ area of Matarangi. The beach is accessed via a walkway which is immediately opposite the house and you'll only be 200m to the tennis courts and golf club. The Golden Hideaway has with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a modern open plan living, dining and kitchen area. Large paved verandas, front and rear, keep the house cool in summer and provide shady areas to BBQ or dine outdoors. The lounge and dining area is open plan with high battened ceilings, polished concrete floors, a large floor rug, open fireplace, and sliding doors that open onto the front and back verandas. The lounge has 2 x 3-seater couches, 2 lounge chairs, a flatscreen TV and DVD/CD player (bring your own Sky decoder). The dining area has a large rectangular white table with 8 chairs - perfect for the whole family. The kitchen features a 3m long island bench. There are 3 bar stools for casual meals at the bench. The appliances include an oven, bench top hob (gas), rangehood, fridge/freezer, bar fridge, microwave, dishwasher, wastemaster, blender, bread maker, electric jug and toaster, good quality pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. All four bedrooms are doubles; two bedrooms have queen size beds and two bedrooms have two king singles. All the bedrooms are carpeted, fabric curtains, wardrobes and innerspring mattresses. Three bedrooms have sliding doors that open outside onto the veranda. The two bathrooms have tiled floors, tiled showers, wall-mounted toilets and basins, heated towel rails and heated mirrors. One bathroom has a bath. The other contains the laundry, including washing machine and drier. There is an iron and ironing board. The outdoor furniture available includes a large cedar/galvanised steel dining table, six chairs, some deckchairs and bean-bags and a gas BBQ. There is an outdoor shower (hot and cold) for rinsing off after the beach. The outside storeroom contains boogie-boards and some old bikes, which guests are welcome to use.
