5 star it isn't but understandable when it is one of the oldest homes in Whitianga with all the "quirks" a 130 year old property will have. It's a suburb location - 3 min walk to the main street and 5 mins to the beach. We're a group of fishing buddies ( huge shout out to Ryan at Churchy's Charters) who must have stayed here at least 6/7 times for 3 night stays. Fantastic outdoor covered deck area and BBQ ( don't think we've ever eaten inside), large fenced back lawn and mature trees and plantings great for kids. The back sleep out (double/2 x single and 1 bunk bed in three small separate areas) is "rustic" at best but does give some very flexible bedding options for a large group or extended families.

Amazing Home! Has everything you could think of + more! Rooms were spacious and super tidy. Outdoor area was fantastic. Super lovely and couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Quirky old house with 2 good sized bathrooms for family groups. Pretty well equipped kitchen with a very useful old deck. Pleasant and safe back yard.

We loved our stay at Hannan, it was in such a great location close to the beach and town. Perfect spot over the new year period to spend with friends. The house had a lot of character with a big lawn and plenty of rooms, yet the house itself requires some minor attention. Regardless we enjoyed our stay and would stay again

Beautiful property, the garden area was beautiful and well maintained, perfect for a group of friends. Would visit and stay again.

Nice Bach feel, fire was so cosy. Great place to stay with extended family . Close to town and handy to everything. Not flash, but clean and tidy and suited us with little ones.

The property was excellent and perfect for the few days stay we had with the lads. The age of the house gave it a great homely and relaxing feel, while the location so near town within walking distance was fantastic. Would come back and stay again and would be perfect for a large or multiple families due to the large amount of beds / space.

Fantastic property, large family group stay and everyone’s requirements were well catered for. Great outdoor space and loved the charm and character of the old house. Excellent location in close proximity to shops and Buffalo Beach. Loved it!

This house has personality! The set up in the kitchen is amazing and really appreciated! It was so nice to have 'everything' you could possibly need! The well maintained garden creates a lovely setting for a bbq. Great location with a very short walk to various takeaways, shops and supermarkets. Thanks, we had a fabulous weekend!

The property has lots of bedrooms and a nice log burner, which warms the house beautifully. The backyard is peaceful and the deck provides a nice, covered outdoor space. It is an easy walk to the main street and Buffalo Beach. The house is older and has lots of character (and a few little quirks), which suited us perfectly. The house manager was friendly and helpful.

The Villia is very handy to town and beach.

This is the second year we have stayed in Haven on Hannan. It’s a beautiful rustic home. We all love it there. Always able to kick back and relax

The main house is old and quirky but acceptable outside rooms left a lot to be desired and don't feel safe for small children.

Thanks for your review Ken and Mary. We totally agree that Haven on Hannan is old and quirky, we think that is part of its charm! We're sorry that you were disappointed by the railway rooms, please rest assured that all of our properties undergo regular Health and Safety reviews to ensure they are safe for all guests, big and small. We hope to welcome you back in the future!

Wonderful old house in a convenient location for exploring the area. Beautiful outdoor spaces to relax in.

Very cute cottage with loads of room for everyone. Most of our living was out on the deck, excellent set up with a fridge right there!

Great central location with massive back yard and we enjoyed the quirky elements of the villa.

Heaven on Hannan was magical for our Christmas and holiday stay. After a washout of a day on Christmas Day the weather gods delivered and the Bach served as a great central point to use as base for our holiday. Excellent location, close to all that you need for a typical kiwi Bach holiday and ample space to host extended family. The kids loved the sleep out but bring your repellent - the mozzies do bite!

Haven on Hannah is one of the original houses in Whitianga - built in the 1880s. The main house has been pleasantly updated - the covered in back deck with BBQ is great, the location is perfect being a 2 min walk to the main shopping street -but far enough away to keep any noise from local bars and restaurants away. There is a great big backyard. The sleep out is best described as "rustic" with uneven floors and low ceiling, two very small bedrooms, one with 2 x singles and 1 x double and single bunk beds off the one "main" one however it offers extremely versatile bedding configuration and is still very clean and tidy. This will have been our fourth stay here and we'll be back again
