About the location
Waimārama (meaning “moon over shining water”) is one of Hawke’s Bay’s most beautiful coastal escapes, just 20 minutes from Havelock North. This long sandy beach is a favourite for surfing, swimming, fishing, and pipi gathering, with golden shores perfect for a stroll or simply relaxing with a book. Offshore, Motu-o-Kura (Bare Island) adds to the stunning coastal views and is popular for diving and fishing. Waimārama is also rich in Māori history and culture. Nearby lies Hakikino, the site of an ancient fortress pā. Visitors can join guided Waimārama Māori Tours to walk the land, hear ancestral stories, and experience the deep cultural connection to this place. Whether you’re here for the surf, the scenery, or the stories, Waimārama offers a truly unique Hawke’s Bay experience. All our Waimārama holiday homes are pre-inspected, and available for instant online booking — the perfect base for your coastal getaway.
