Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. We’ll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.
The property
La Casa de la Playa is an absolute beachfront retreat in Waikanae’s sought-after Olde Beach area. Designed by renowned mid-20th century architect Ernst Plischke and lovingly held by the same family since the early 1960s, this unique holiday home blends timeless architectural character with modern comforts, creating a memorable coastal escape. Perfectly positioned on the edge of the sand dunes, the property offers direct access to Waikanae Beach and is within easy walking distance of local favourites including Long Beach and Hey Coastie restaurants and bars, the Olde Beach French Bakery, Hendrix Café, local stores, the Waikanae Boating Club, playgrounds, a pétanque court, free tennis courts, and basketball hoops. Waikanae Golf Club is just a 15-minute walk away, while the celebrated Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club, Nga Manu Nature Reserve, local art studios, and regular train services to Wellington are all easily accessible. Inside, the home is bright, welcoming, and designed for flexible family living. The spacious master bedroom features a super-king bed that can be split into two single beds on request. Beyond a sliding hallway door, the sunroom with bunk beds connects to two additional bedrooms, separated by Plischke’s signature large sliding doors. These can be opened to create a spacious open-plan area or closed for added privacy. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living areas are filled with natural light and decorated in relaxed beach-inspired tones. The indoor dining table comfortably seats eight, while large doors open onto the paved courtyard and expansive beachfront lawn. The sunroom also opens directly to the outdoor dining area, where a generous table provides the perfect setting for long lunches and summer evenings overlooking the dunes and beach. La Casa de la Playa is a paradise for water lovers, with plenty of room to park a boat and the Waikanae Boating Club boat ramp just 150 metres away. Guests can enjoy complimentary use of kayaks and boogie boards, while the well-stocked bookshelves and games cupboards provide entertainment for quieter moments. Set up a hammock in the sheltered garden and unwind with a book, or make the most of the spacious lawn with family cricket, pétanque, Kubb, and mini golf, with equipment provided. A short drive away, Waikanae township offers galleries, boutiques, cafés, restaurants, a cinema, and the popular Saturday morning market. Just north from Paraparaumu, Waikanae Beach is a popular holiday destination, loved for it's undisturbed beauty and community vibe. The beach is great for swimming, fishing and kayaking, and there's great bird watching opportunities by the estuary. Visit the nearby Tararua Forest Park for great walking tracks through stunning scenery, or make the short drive to Paraparaumu for a day of shopping and cafe hopping. It was a real privilege to share your place and enjoy all the memories and love that is obviously inherent within those walls… great kitchen facilities, we like to cook! Thanks, super laidback spaces, and location to the beach. Felt like home, so don’t change a thing, priceless!!!!!! Only minor glitch, the code to the lockbox I got didn’t work, but a call to Bachcare resolved it had been changed. It would be good if the information were current. I had just flown 12 hours, sat outside for ...
